I have a spreadsheet where I track how players are rated on ESPN, Scout, and Rivals, and the offers that they have, BCS and non-BCS. Just some interesting facts while people argue over how good this recruiting class really is...
1) If you look at the entire SMU roster as it now stands, 8 out of the top 20 recruits come out of this class (Fields, Gottschaulk, Guinyard, Beard, Kaiser, OGuin, Thorton, Bordono).
2) I have 4 basic categories for recruits: offers, Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. Players who have 3 stars (or a 70 from ESPN) or higher in two categories of the 4 categories I give a "C" grade to, meaning that they are projected to at least compete at the CUSA level. This is the first time since I have been keeping track of this that we are over 30 players at that level (34 to be exact). 24 of those players came in the last two seasons, 14 this season.
3) For those who want a RB comparison, when you look at McNeal and Fields in Rivals, Scout and ESPN, they have the same ratings, same stars, and in the national rankings McNeal is only ahead by around 10 places...
Not that far off...
