Hey guys I'm new here and just thought I would post after watching Coach Jones on the CBS Sports interview...highlights:
Excited about recruiting class, specifically the St. Louis QB. As mentioned on ESPN interview, said he would take him in the first round of NFL draft today and that he is a quality kid that stuck to his commitment even after bigger schools came calling. Said a lot of kids want to play in his offense and of the thousands of QB tapes he watched over the years this kid is towards the top of the list. SMU was the first to offer him and that paid off.
Should be solid at CB position next year with red shirts, new guys and JUCO transfer
Recruiting in Dallas after death penalty has been "interesting"...some high schools have said "we haven't seen SMU here in 25 years." Recruited within 350 miles of campus and only took 1 plane trip all year to recruit...being in such a furtile area is a blessing and something SMU will take advantage of. Has stolen from TCUs recruting mode and is focusing close to home...long distance recruits were obtained over the phone.
Fulmer concluded the interview by saying that he took up to 70 trips out of state to recruit at Tennessee and to be in an area like the Metroplex is a huge advantage that SMU and June Jones have taken advantage of.
Go Ponies!
