Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talentan anology based on what-Fox Weather? NASA just released studies (see link) showing 2009 temperatures were the second highest in recorded history (very close to the warmest) ending the warmest decade in recorded history. Analogy fails when not logical. Yes I do love taking a big sledge-hammer to the logic of "coventional wisdom" with the best evidence availiable.

Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
and yet NOAA says this: The average temperature in December 2009 was 30.2 F. This was -3.2 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 14th coolest December in 115 years. The temperature trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.1 degrees Fahrenheit per decade. 2.88 inches of precipitation fell in December. This was 0.65 inches more than the 1901-2000 average, the 11th wettest such month on record. The precipitation trend for the period of record (1895 to present) is 0.02 inches per decade. show me some data, and I'll show you some data to refute it. As a great American once said, Facts are stubborn things. Things aren't always as black and white...or right or WRONG (to use a Stallionism) as you/we would like for them to be.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
Someone used the term narcissistic.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas TalentStallion = al gore of ponyfans....
Not to mention, you just made the point that the earth is older than 6000 years and there weren't and Tom Skiilling 7000 years ago, so we don't have any real data on the subject... Measuring the last 2000 years climate wise would still be such a small sample size that it would be worthless in every measurable method...it could simply just as easily be a 1st or 3rd standard dev.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
and actually the sampling's smaller than that. They've only been recording such things since the 1880s....which was conveniently pointed out in the first paragraph of the NASA story.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas TalentWe haven't had this kind of wheels off deviation from a topic in a long time, congrats to all.
I think we've covered: - Politics (Tea Party, Al Gore, Obama) - Global Warming - The Weather - NASA - Narcissism - Creationism I think winning has made everyone more friendly. I can't recall a substantial "Stallion is stupid and arrogant" thread over the last 12 months. Kudos! #NewLobCity
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas TalentDoes the words "hide the decline" mean anything to you, stallion?
I would double check those NASA figures before citing them - they have had some issues in the past: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/3303561/Nasa-climate-change-error-spotted-by-blogger.html And those AGW cheerleaders err scientists are so reputable: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/feb/01/leaked-emails-climate-jones-chinese It is almost as if they make things up to bolster their point and get grant money: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6999975.ece How could any intelligent person doubt these truth seekers? Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
Was it NASA or someone else who noted that the polar ice caps on Mars are also melting? Undoubtedly our CO2 problems have affected the whole universe. Next thing you know Uranus and Neptune will disappear. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
I think we can all agree that the earth has been warming up since the end of the ice age...some times refered to as the last ice age (does that mean there have been other cycles of cold and hot climates). Man is a special species, but you can't credit or blame everything that happens on the human race. There is still alot more that we don't know than what we do know. The search for knowledge will continue forever. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas TalentLook Tea Bagger go talk crazy over at Fox-now you're a narcissist if you believe in the scientifically accepted theory of Global Climate Change? Or maybe it was because I think flag waving state secessionists are treasonist? That Obama has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt under U.S. Law that he was born a citizen of the United States? Or that I believe in evolutionary theory? Or the Earth was created a litt' bit longer than 6,000 years ago. At least I'm not ignorant and uneducated.

Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas TalentI thought dissent was the highest form of patriotism. PK you are a true american.
But you are quiet adept at using straw man and ad hominem arguments. For a legal scholar you don't rebut very well. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and

Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
I think the argument that you're not ignorant can be debated. You're a narcissist if you believe your postulations are the only ones that can possibly be right and everyone else is beneath you, and the only thing you can do to combat those who do not fall within your absolutisms is call them names. Put more colloquially: A pattern of traits and behaviors which signify infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one's gratification, dominance and ambition. (e.g. "I was the first one to say this", or "I've been saying this for years," or "all you who say xyz while I've been saying abc" etc. etc. Or "...at least I'm not ignorant and uneducated"....a stance literally to the exclusion of all others with no real reference point. That said, a few other things: -What does Obama's US citizenship have to do with anything posted in this thread? I didnt see it mentioned. -While we're on the topic of posting stories and stats, you'll probably this interesting:Fox is the most trusted television news network in the country, according to a new poll out Tuesday Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/01 ... z0eskUbJk2 I've never encountered anyone-on a message board or otherwise-so taken aback when someone has differing points of view than theirs. It's an interesting social study to watch the alter egos of Stallion on pf.com and Pony Express on Rivals.
Re: Statesman: 2011 Down Year for Texas Talent
which was the original point. Glad someone noticed.
