Get ready for the loons to use this game as proof that Doh should be fired.

I was calling for Doh's head before a few developments occurred:

1) We actually started to compete for the full 40 minutes, rather than giving up after 30 minutes, and
2) Doh came up with a system that will work here.

Now that those two things have happened, I don't believe Doh should be fired...yet, anyway. I think he deserves another year.

He definitely should be allowed to ride the contract out and be given a swiss cheese extension for recruiting purposes. We've had our share of injuries this year, not to mention the McCoy saga. The kids coming in next year fit the current system, so we should get more ball movement, more kids involved etc. The offensive and defensive systems can very much work in this league. We're really not that far off. Still, losses that could have been Ws sting.

With a healthy Rob and an average McCoy (10-15 avg pts a game) - this team wins a lot more obviously. Dia was pretty quiet the last 2 games.

Why it took 3 years for a "system" is beyond me. lets get these 3 kids in here - hopefully they turn out good. You never know until they get here and play in games.

A true bas a%$ POINT GUARD (PG) that looks to pass first, can efficiently break the trap and full court pressure every time and looks to create opportunities down court for all, would be nice.
C'mon Lloyd, be that guy! Dallas is better than Vegas.....get over here!

doh shouldn't get fired because of the latest loss - look at the body of work - 4 yrs to find a system that works (maybe)?

The time to fire him was before he figured out which system he wanted to run. Now that he's finally decided on one, we have to let him go with it.

How would you feel if your boss came up to you and said "you've got another year to figure this problem out," then after you devised a potential solution to the problem (within the time limit), your boss came up to you and said "thanks for doing that for me, but you're fired."

The real question we should be discussing is WHY is took Doh so long to come up with a winning formula. Say what you want about recruiting, but just look at this season, should a quality coach take this long?

Honestly, I think the answer to that question is that he was given so much time to experiment with different options by the powers that be (Orsini & Turner). Instead of settling on a system from the beginning, he fiddled with many different systems until he found which one worked the best.

the guy had been at high majors for like 15 years other then Florida Atlantic, before coming to a mid major program, that has issues in the community. Beyond that, the academic issues were and are slightly different then what the rest of the league has to deal with. Honestly, he tried to recruit athletes vs recruiting for system, which is something you can do at Kansas, Notre Dame, and UNC. Beyond that, Orsini was green as well and didn't really massage the process b/c he didn't know any better either. In SMU hoop terms, both were civilians. We could have used an experienced guide, but since it didn't happen, why fire a guy who has found his way now, even if it was by trial and error.
