I know it's a long way away (God willing)But when JJ finally departs from the Hilltop, many years (and 5 NCs) from now, is there anybody right now starting to learn his system to take his place?
I find that most programs do well when a protege takes over, does SMU have one? A Mustang Fan and an SMU Class Of 08 Theatre Major. Believe It.

Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)The important thing is by that point the perception that SMU is a coaching graveyard for football will be long gone. So far as we don't tank the next four or five seasons in a row, quality coaches will be interested in the position and have the tools to succeed.

People say that often...... Wonder if he will be encouraged enough to stay here instead of taking a HC somewhere else (if the opportunity presents itself) before JJ leaves.
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)
Well, we sure can't designate him "head coach in waiting". Derail the Frogs!
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)That will be so long from now we will elevate QB coach Bo Levi Mitchell
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think he'd go to Hawai`i in a heartbeat.
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)Reinbold is a hell of a recruiter but te reason we won as many games as we dd this year is bc of the improvement on defense. Condsidering what we had Tom mason looked like a genius. You have to put him in the equation
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)
We've seen what DC's do as head coaches for us though...
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)I am sure that someone has a number on the average tenure of a Division I head football coach. To me five years sounds like almost half a career and I don't many waiting so long for a chance.
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)
nice
Re: I know it's a long way away (God willing)I have no knowledge of his standing in the coaching community, but I've been real impressed with Derrick Odum. When he filled in for JJ at one of the lunches, it really opened my eyes. I also like that he is young, and if he is indeed a good coach, I like that he can relate to recruits.
I've always been concerned with having such a Hawaii-centric staff, that when JJ leaves they wouldn't be inclined to stay in Dallas. #NewLobCity
