2011 recruits — by position

Postby Otto » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:34 pm

Based on the online roster at SMUMustangs.com, here are next year's scholarship seniors:

CB Derrius Bell
WR Josh Bryant
CB Tim Crosby
DL Mickey Dollens
LB Pat Fleming
LB Pete Fleps
DB Tyler Jones
RB Ryan Moczygemba
CB Sterling Moore
WR Aldrick Robinson
DE Justin Smart
CB Bennie Thomas
DL Zac Thomas
LB Youri Yenga

By my count, that's 14. I think all of these guys are scholarship guys. There are some others on the roster who are listed but I think are walk-ons (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Considering that group, and the current state of the roster, here's what I'd like to see signed next year (and yes, I fully expect Coach Jones to sign 25, or close to 25):

1 quarterback (should be at least one in every class)
1 running back
4 wide receivers (can't have too many in Coach Jones' offense)
4 offensive linemen
2 nose tackles
3 defensive ends
3 outside linebackers
2 inside linebackers
2 cornerbacks
2 safeties
1 kicker/punter

Thoughts?
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Of course, those numbers include whichever players Coach Jones grayshirts this fall.

You're a little behind, Josh Bryant and Tim Crosby were announced as seniors on the last home game. Zac Thomas won't be back either, and there are a couple of more that are on the bubble.

Right you are. I forgot.

I thought Zac Thomas was still on scholarship, but out because of his back. Not true?

i think we are fine with the kicker from Cali. If we get a walkon that would be great but i doubt we offer a scholarship this year to a kicker or punter
