Re: Austin IRS BuildingNapolitano said they were going to pay more attention to domestic terrorism. I wonder what flight plan the guy filed and how long did it take for him to take off and kamakazee into the IRS building. If he took off in Austin and crashed into the IRS, I suspect it was less than 5 minutes. Pretty hard to scamble fighters in time to do anything. Don't know that anyone could do much about this type of guy except maybe have the FAA require mental stability exams periodically and that gets into a very unscientific field - psychology. The alternative adopted in DC after 9/11 is to have fighters flying in circles around every major city in the country 24/7. That would get very expensive. I suspect even then, a situation like this would result in senseless tragedy.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Austin IRS Building
According to reports the guy took off from a regional airport in Georgetown. So, it probably took no more than five or ten minutes. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Austin IRS Building
He didn't file a flight plan and took off from the Georgetown airport so it wouldn't have taken very long to get there.
Re: Austin IRS BuildingTreasury Secretary Geithner and IRS Commissioner Shulman visited the crash site in Austin. It's amazing that only one person was killed. I know people who worked in that building. They say they're going to increase security. But I don't know what they could have done to stop what happened. There is such an atmosphere of hate and intolerance in the country now.
