Re: 1st and Ten Wars
I live in Florida, so someone please help me out. Is First and Ten the same as the Point ? In the 1980's the original Point was at Greenville and Lover's Lane. Other "Points" followed - The Wycliff Point, The Midway Point, Northwest Point, etc. I think at the time they were all owned or franchised by Jim Bailey. Are the Points still around and if so, are they related to First and Ten ? Thanks Panhandle_Pony

There is still a "Point" on Beltline in Addison isn't there? I seem to remember being drunk there once.

Re: 1st and Ten Wars
Not sure about all the other Points, but I believe when the one at Greenville and Lovers closed, Bailey opened a new place in Hillside Village at Abrams Road and Mockingbird and named it Bailey's 1st and Ten. It still had all the Point Burgers, etc. that the old Points place had. Bailey ran into some problems (which I won't get into) and had to shut 1st and Ten down. A group of guys got together and acquired 1st and Ten and reopend as Lakewood's 1st and Ten. One of the new owners is Dutch of PonyFans.com fame. They were able to get some of the old staff, including the cook, to come work for them and therefore the food is still the same as before.panhandle_pony wrote:I live in Florida, so someone please help me out. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Thanks for the info PK. I appreciate the follow-up.
Re: 1st and Ten Wars
PK, thanks for a very abbreviated version of the history of 1st & 10. pretty much sums it up. there are still "point" restaurants around town, but none of them have any affiliation with each other. they all do trace back to the original at lovers & greenville.PK wrote:Not sure about all the other Points, but I believe when the one at Greenville and Lovers closed, Bailey opened a new place in Hillside Village at Abrams Road and Mockingbird and named it Bailey's 1st and Ten. we have the best kitchen staff, the most motivated ownership, and the best following of any of them. Thanks to all the PonyFans for their support!
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

sure, all you have to do, is order a rack of our ribs to go, pull all the meat off .the bones, put it in your blender w/ some oil (for consistency reasons) and bring to a paste. then place the paste in a mold (previously formed by using plaster of paris on a quarter rack of our ribs) and then place in the freezer to set. once set, coat with BBQ sauce and place in oven to warm. once heated, place on bun. eat. enjoy.lwjr wrote:The McRib is back?!?!Dutch wrote:try our ribs sometime.

Dutch, before I moved from Dallas in the mid 90's I was a big fan of the Point. Since you have some of their DNA, I'll be sure and look you up next time I'm in Dallas.

Took the wife to 1st and Ten last night. We haven't had a point burger since the early 80's at the Wycliff Point. Wow, what a burger. It was better than we remembered. Outstanding service. We will be back!
