Re: Ramon FlaniganActually on 10/14/1995 we lost 20-17... I remember they threw a long pass into the end zone at the end of the game to win it.
Re: Ramon FlaniganNot only well liked by SMU fans, but well liked when he was QB coach at NT---at least by my friend's son who was/is a QB there. Congratulations and best of luck!
Re: Ramon Flanigan
We tied them at the Alamodome. Could have won if our kicker could kick a 40 yarder. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Ramon Flaniganthe game at College Station was where we had them beat with less than a minute leftand A&M got the ball 70 yards away from the endzone needing a TD to win. A&m got a phantom interference call on Ken Neill to get the ball to the SMU 25 then threw the ball about 12 feet high in the back of the endzone. Albert Connell, a track high jumper, went up and caught the ball. Not sure if anyone can truthfully know if he caught it in bounds or not. But he made an unfuckinging believable catch to even get his hands on it.
Texas A&M 20, Southern Methodist 17 Albert Connell made a leaping touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone with eight seconds left as No. 22 Texas A&M snapped a two-game losing streak with a wild victory over visiting Southern Methodist. S.M.U. (1-5, 0-2 Southwest Conference), which led most of the game, took a 17-13 lead on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Derek Canine to a diving Kevin Thornal with 56 seconds to play. That score, which came on third-and-10, capped an 80-yard drive kept alive by costly penalties on A&M and key third-and-long conversions. But the Aggies (3-2, 1-1) answered with a five-play, 70-yard scoring drive that included two 17-yard passes from Corey Pullig to Aaron Oliver, a 15-yard pass interference penalty on the Mustangs and the dramatic 25-yard scoring lob to Connell, who outleaped S.M.U.'s Cornell Parker in the end zone. "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Ramon FlaniganConnell also pushed off like Michael Irvin on that play.
PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: Ramon FlaniganI have the game on tape, he came down out of bounds.
Re: Ramon FlaniganRamon Flanigan was one great athlete and so much fun to watch. Ramon loves SMU. One day I predict he will be back on the Hilltop in some capacity. Congrats Ramon on your new job.
