Re: J'mission MorganBobo has always had some maturity, motivation issues i think. SMU is not a good fit for him, and Doherty is really not a good fit at all to coach him. No way in hell that Doh could motivate this kid, it would be a disaster from day 1. forget it.
Re: J'mission MorganWould you rather have 2 years of Morgan or potentially 4 from a kid like Geoff Groselle?

Re: J'mission MorganWithout regard to the specific players -generally in college basketball it is best to take the older big man for 2 years then you get the scholarship back and sign another player for 2 years. You win in college basketball-w/o the elite players-by bunching maturity at the top classes. We've had about 20 big men come through here in 20 years and got very little from them in their Freshman and Sophomore Classes.

Re: J'mission Morgan
This. Those of you who want to take Morgan instead of a PG don't understand what we need to make this program a winner.
Re: J'mission MorganIf a player is good enough you simply make room-I've got a few names in mind.

Re: J'mission MorganCould not agree more with Stallion.
We have players on our team that are marginal division one players. There are some major questions about this kid's work ethic, but not about his ability. I'm not saying we have to sign him, but he is a DISD kid, former top 40 player in the country in high school and he wants to play closer to home....you HAVE to take a look and kick the tires on this kid. This talk of we need a PG not a center so pass is a joke. He is going to sit out a year due to transfer than would have two years to play....
Re: J'mission MorganIf he wants to come here, you absolutely take him. You find a way to make room for him AND a point guard. You count on that between Doherty, the Reggies, and Lutz someone can motivate him.
Re: J'mission Morganlol, he's not transferring willingly, he was dismissed for being a bad egg & worse player. People can speculate all day, but it just takes one call to Howland. This kid isn't a special talent, he's a role player. This isn't Caracter even, just a rotation guy.
Get a PG & push for early verbals from Holmes, possibly Groselle etc. Put a real foundation together, not patchwork head cases. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. Re: J'mission MorganIm not really following why you think that you cannot have Morgan ,Groselle and Holmes. We have quite a few scholarships coming open after next year. How would taking Morgan not allow you to take Groselle and Holmes as well? I think that if you truly want to get your foot in the door with DISD why would you not want this guy instead of some tweener guard that only has offers from Sam Houston, etc.
Re: J'mission Morgan
You're looking at an '11 rotation of Vilde, Smith, Nyakundi, & Otis already. Add Groselle and that's already a 5 man rotation between the 4 & 5. I'd rather my rotation depth be a promosing frosh, and not some sulking cancerous fatty that can't run. A failing, profile, disd player, hurts the program. Wait til we take that tub of goo on, and he fails miserably. We'll have destroyed his career...lol. You want to repair DISD, put ypurself in position to have a success story. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. Re: J'mission MorganPlano West is close enough. Bring on Groselle.
That said, who's to say a BIg XII program doesnt pluck him away?
Re: J'mission MorganUNT is my guess. Daddy played there. He will have no problem transferring credits. UTA and SMU could be other options. Frankly I don't think Baylor would take him.
Re: J'mission Morgan
It's possible, depending how he plays this summer. Same can be said of Holmes. Groselle's Mom played for the Lady Mustangs, I think, so he's a hoops legacy. All you can do is go to the wall for the kids. Groselle already has Utah & Colorado St offers, I think. We're in pretty good shape, though “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. Re: J'mission MorganI never heard good things about Morgan when he played HS ball or Select ball here in Dallas.....he is one of those guys who feels he is 'entitled', without putting any effort into it. He will never make it anywhere unless he changes his total attitude.
No way he can make it in to SMU, much less stay here IF he were to get in.
Re: J'mission MorganI wonder if OU might want him? Baylor has no room for him and I don't know if we would want him.
