Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110would be nice to show up as competition for those players more than twice.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110

Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110

Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110
There are two or three more on that list that we've offered that are considering us
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110The guy who wrote that list used to be my intern.
Looks like he's all growed up. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110TCU appears to be having their best recruiting year ever. No problem making Rivals 2011 Top 25 for them this year.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110
Beat them and take them off their high horse.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110
It would be nice to show up as competition for those players more than 3 times.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110The conventional wisdom on this board was give JJ 4 years and we will be able to compete against TCU. Not sure I buy into that.
The best analogy I can think of is American car manufactures competing against the Japanese in the 80's and 90's. Yes, the quality of an American car improved during that period, but the Japanese quality increased even more.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110
We're improving considerably faster than TCU. Of course, our baseline is much lower so improvements from total suckage are easy.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110Depends on what you mean by "compete." TCU is a top ten team. If anyone said when JJ was hired we'd be at that level four years into his tenure, they'd have been laughed off this board.
The goal is Top 25. We're making pretty good strides to get there.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110What he's saying is that the long term talent disparity between SMU and TCU is actually growing-I agree with that. SMU is looking for sleepers-TCU is recruiting lately in the upper half of the Big 12.

Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110You have to crawl before you can walk and walk before you can run. TCU has a hell of a head start on us and it will still be awhile before we close the gap. Having said that, we are ahead of where we have been for a long time and that is good. TCU will continue to be a team we compare ourselves against for awhile to come as they are still doing much better than us, but I know for a fact that they are looking over their shoulder with a bit of concern at our progress.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: TexAgs.com 2011 Texas Top 110
We're not looking for "sleepers," are we? We've been offering top talent by your own admission. The fact that TCU appears to be on the road to a better class doesn't mean we're not taking it up a notch, recruiting wise. Don't take this to mean that I don't want what TCU has. But PK is right and TCU's a team a lot of schools would love to be right now. Good for them. But for now I'll take the improvement.
