I think they're mostly trying to get rid of the area code/zip code messages. Right or wrong, the NCAA probably thinks there's a thug or gang element associated with it. If they outlaw it, they have to outlaw the bible verses as well. It was getting to the point where players were only wearing the eye black to show off their new messages. Now the players can use it for it's intended purpose, and I bet we'll see a dramatic reduction in players who actually do.

if someone dives 16 yards, splits two defenders, and lands in the endzone, he'll be #1 pick in the following years NFL draft.

I agree, there are going to be some controversial calls made. If a guy running in for TD looks behind him before going in - taunting? or just seeing how closehe is to the nearest deffender?

The coaches have to be asking a lot of questions for clarification.

He'd only have to dive one yard. The penalty is 15 yards from the spot of the foul.

If I had written under my eyes:

"I AM" "YOUR GOD"

...would that be considered religious?
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

He'd probably be drafted by the Raiders never to be heard from again

How is an area code (such as Reggie Bush made popular at USC and has been copied a thousand times) a religious expression?

There was a reference by someone to Tim Tebow in particular and Bible verses that show up on those things. Although someone might put the area code of the Vatican.

So true. Wish Al Davis would get back down on the sidelines as the coach.

It will be interesting to see how the 'taunting' rule is applied...an instant decision by an official in the heat of the moment means that a poorly defined rule will lead to more of the redacting "oops" comments by conference officials when on review it is determined that it is not 'taunting.'

I recall coaches tearing several teamates a brand new backside when a 15 yard penalty was enforced on kickoff...another 'over-fixing' of a marginal problem, IMO.

To much discretion in the hands of the refs that can change the outcome of a game.
