no, but I understand Frank Broyles is.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
I believe Broyles retired...could be wrong though.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioSounds like the Big 12 North could be breaking up. Jim Tressel was in Lincoln meeting with Osborne yesterday.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
he did, in 2007. But that's always the trump card to play when discussing Arkansas. Somewhere along the way I think people are underestimating the Big 12. So long as Texas is committed to the Big 12, they have the highest revenue football program in America, and that's a hefty asset.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioI have always thought for about a decade that Colorado and Utah inevitably would end up in the PAC 10. And BYU would go the what remains of the Big 12 if they want that option based on what is availiable. What I can't quite believe is that the Big 10 will simply water down an already weak BCS Conference by adding still more schools in areas without many good football recruits such as UCONN, Rutgers and Syracuse. It really would just be for subscribers to their TV Network. But I don't see it helping the quality of play in the Big 10. I still got this feeling that Big 10 is attempting a power play to force Notre Dame's hand. I also think Missouri or Nebraska makes more sense than UCONN or Rutgers or Syracuse. UT has no interest in the SEC and has no interest in the PAC 10 unless possibly there is a Southwest core of say Colorado, Texas, A&M, OU and Texas Tech.

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
Beyond adding a championship game, isn't that really all they are after?
I have that feeling too--although I didn't like hearing that Tressel was in Lincoln. The Big 12 better get plans for a TV network together fast.

FCA banquet.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
Yeah, I know. Which just happened to be the same day the BCS meetings were going on in DC. He spent 2 hours meeting with Osborne before it. Supposedly they are discussing a non-conference series in 2021-22, but I'm sure that isn't all that was discussed.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
From the standpoint of being a quality team TCU has no problem, but the Big 12 already owns the DFW/north central Texas TV market without a local school in the mix. Colarado State would help them maintain the Denver TV market or BYU would add the Mormon market...for what ever that might be worth. Just saying... SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadiothere is a small glimmer of longshot hope TCU gets in - if Colorado goes to PAC 10, and both Nebraska and Missouri go to the Big 10 and Texas doesn't want to go to the SEC 14 or PAC 16. Then I can see BYU, and 2 or 3 of whatever is left- TCU or Boise or Colorado St or New Mexico. But doesn't UT just look elsewhere in this scenario. In that scenario I would see a PAC 16 with a Southwest Division of
UT A&M Tech OU Colorado Arizona Arizona St Utah actually makes some sense on a map That would leave: BYU TCU Boise Houston Air Force New Mexico Iowa St Oklahoma St Kansas Kansas St. Colorado St Baylor. SMU or Wyoming (SMU might be fighting for this slot because now Dallas, Texas media market and recruiting would be attractive to this group) ________________ Baylor SMU Wyoming Rice UTEP Tulane Tulsa San Diego St (probably WAC) UNLV (probably WAC) Last edited by Stallion on Wed Apr 21, 2010 12:22 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioBest Scenario:
SOUTHERN DIVISION (6 or 7) TCU UH SMU Baylor Oklahoma St. New Mexico Air Force North Division(6 or 7) Boise BYU Wyoming Kansas Kansas St. Iowa St. Colorado St. "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Central Division SMU TCU Baylor Houston Oklahoma St Kansas Kansas St Mountain Division BYU Boise Iowa St Colorado St New Mexico Air Force Wyoming It would be the best thing ever to happen to SMU Basketball "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioKind of ironic. The Big 2 expanded by 'poaching' the SWC. Now the Big 2 is being 'poached' by the PAC 10. Assumes the information about Utah and Colorado are correct. But the Big 2 expanded based on TV and power and now is not strong enough to fend off poaching.
The Big 2 will have difficulty getting a solid toehold in Big 10 territory and the PAC 10 will not be fertile recruiting ground. Perhaps the Big 2 can go after some SEC territory (like Tulane in a large city with solid facilities and no chance of upsetting the Big 2 power as is).
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
Why Tech? They dont' really add anything. Seems like TCU would be a better choice for the conference. Not much TV in Lubbottock and with TCU at least the conference schools get to play in the DFW recruiting hotbed. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioThink our winning season last year and current upward trajectory will not be huge? One year of respectable football and we're in some conversations for an improvement in our conference situation. You gotta think there's some proactive, behind-closed-doors scenario planning going on that involves us.
Talk about JIT. Our timing to finally turn this thing around could not have been any better. Is the curse finally broken? I just wish we could get the Article 19 film out there right now.
