Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioSaw this link on hornfans.com,
I assume if this dream worked out, there might be a space for SMU with the leftovers from the big 12, maybe even a former SWC type feel. SEC Expanding to 16 teams "1. Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Nebraska Voila, a sixteen team conference whose future would be so bright that all in the immediate vicinity of the conference would have to shield their eyes lest they be blinded. You take the four traditional powers of the Southwest region and combine them with the Southeast's behemoths. You get the Texas television market, and the college football cachet of Oklahoma and Nebraska. Arkansas is reunited with its old foes in the Southwest Conference and a reconfigured SEC West now includes the four above teams with Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss and Alabama. Then you could switch Auburn and Mississippi State to the SEC East. You're talking about an SEC East that would feature Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Auburn? And an SEC West with Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama and LSU? Good Lord, this conference might be so powerful that it could set up its own playoff featuring its own schools and crown a national champion each year." http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/0 ... on-candid/

I have to ask the obvious question: Which is better - 100,000 Tech fans with 90,000 TV sets (15% black and white) or 20,000 SMU fans with 5 plasma/flatscreens each? "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioI don't think any of the big BCS conferences want any small private universities in their conferences. Some of them already have one by virtue of them being left over from their previous associations at the time of their becoming BCS conferences. ND and BYU are probably the only exceptions to the "private" universities that would be welcome due to their large fan bases.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Finally some good news!
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
The expansion definitely seems poised to begin and end with the Big 10 although the Pac-10 will likely go to 12 teams. I would think the Big 10 goes to at least 14 since they would want ND and to move into some other markets, but 16 may not be out of the question here too. I guess the aggressiveness of the Big 10 is really going to be the mover and shaker here. ![]()
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
That, as well as how potential Big East schools such as UConn and West Virginia would react to potential new members, especially in the event that the Big 10 expands to 16. These schools would no doubt aggressively look elsewhere. Whether that results in the ACC or SEC taking them is another matter, though. However, in the event that they were taken it would leave the Big East needing nine new schools . I say nine, rather than 5, because with the loss of such powerful teams it would take more schools in order for the Big East to maintain its BCS status. If West Virginia and UConn leave, these schools would be potential candidates for Big East expansion 1. East Carolina 2. Marshall 3. Navy 4. UCF 5. Memphis 6. Southern Mississippi 7. TCU 8. SMU 9. Houston 10. Villanova 11. Tulsa Eleven schools vying for nine openings, and truthfully I do not believe Tulsa or Marshall would be selected. Far East Conference
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
Not so fast there. Conferences want private schools because private schools are not subject to all the public information laws as state schools, therfore, if you keep one private school in your conference, there is a lot of information, especially financial, that you do not have to make public record. Just send 'da money.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioA public school is a public school and all their finacial records are subject to public review. The conferences may be able to do some fancy footwork with the finacial information because of the private school being a member, but the public schools can't hide their records...IMHO. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioyep-I can't see how that would protect the entire conference or state schools from releasing most information. If there is matter not covered by a Freedom of Information Act Request a Court would likely simply require them to delete or redact the privileged or exempted information and produce the rest.

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadio
After all of the talk out of Austin and College Station a few years ago about whether UT and A&M should go to the Pac-10 or the SEC, how funny would it be if Colorado heads west and Nebraska heads to the Big 11, thereby leaving the Cows and Aggies in a weakened conference. It would serve them right.
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioWhile I'm all about protecting the privates, I agree with Stallion on that.
There are a few privates that they want to keep. USC, Stanford, Miami, Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Notre Dame, BYU and Syracuse (I think that's private). I agree that if the SEC could lose Vandy they could. Same with the Big XII and Baylor. With regard to the SEC, more rumors appear to be circulating about FSU, Miami, GT or Clemson if they go to 14 or 16. UT, A&M, Nebraska and OU would be huge, but again, if you're LSU, Alabama or Florida, do you really want to make it harder on yourself to get to the National Championship game, ditto for UT, OU and Nebraska. UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadiothe success of the Big 10 Network suddenly has them holding all the cards, or so it appears. Since a name change is inevitable...why not the Big 14 or even the Big 16? They may be in a position to "force" Notre Dame's hand if they were able to raid the Big East and lock in the NY metro/northeast TV markets. This could get really interesting, as this next round really has the look of Darwinism at work
Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioMy prediction:
I think the Big 12 as we know it is toast. I see Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska or Kansas bolting. If that happens, look for UT and A & M to follow the money to the SEC. Utah and Colorado to the PAC 12 Missouri and Nebraska to the Big 10 (Possible OU and Kansas as well) Texas and A & M to the SEC. Everyone else will scramble.

Re: Utah and Colorado to Pac-10, according to ESPNRadioDang. We need to beat TCU this year or else they will be in a good position next year (better than this year).
