Wow - what a waste of time and energy

Most recruits would be shocked that certain fans beach & moan about the addition of two full size horses instead of rejoicing about SMU having a winning season and winning the Hawaii Bowl. The recruits would be like "what kind of kooks are these people?" It would be like having a beautiful girlfriend that has a single crooked tooth....and the boyfriend keeps brining up the crooked tooth instead of looking past the one negative and appreciating the overall wonderful package. I guess since June Jones stuck a sock in the pie-holes of some of the doom & gloomers...now they have found some nutty new issue to cry about.

ps: I notice Calallen can not provide a single official source EVER saying the full size horses would EVER replace Peruna.....just more of the "well they could do a better job Xplainin...or someone in Hawaii said....yada yada yada".

I also believe that the school is using these new horses as mascots despite the wishes of the students and a great majority of fans. You may say that Peruna is still the ONLY mascot, but the horses are on the field and are about to have names, and if it looks like a mascot, acts like a mascot, and referred to as a mascot by the media, it's a mascot.

You know there are a lot bigger and tougher birds than the bald eagle....maybe we should think about switching that, or adding another national symbol....Maybe a shark...they are badass looking and people would be more afraid of us if we had sharks everywhere...

Also Red, white and blue don't blend that well, lets switch to red and white or blue and white....maybe black...I think the flag should be black with red stars....that looks cool, I bet people from other countries would like us better if we had a cooler flag....

Hot dogs and apple pie are also bad for us...the new classic american foods will be whole grain toast and quinoa...these are better for us and should make us look better to the rest of the world...

The point is there are traditions and symbols important to people and by adding 2 horses from a person with no affiliation to the school in exchange for being in the good graces of a rich man's wife really isnt something I want to sell my soul for....ultimately the horses ar here for good, which sucks, but as long as peruna is the star of the show, I can temper my anger.

However, to make arguements like recruits like it better or whatever JJ wants because he wins, whether he sells out the school or not are as stupid as the examples above....

SMU was here long before and will be here long after JJ, so be careful how much you let guys change things...Those of you that voted for the current president will be realizing this soon enough, when you are paying 55% income tax, paying a VAT on everything you buy, and basically supporting a 10% portion of this country that expects entitlements...

Fellows in case you didn't know, June Sheldon Jones is the head coach at Southern Methodist University and he as well as the players like the full size horses as a compliment to the school mascot Peruna.

A very popular group of about a 100 guys that came to games dressed in red or white starched shrts with "SQUIRES" in big letters across the back. They competeted for the HONOR of running Peruna across the field. Revive the Squires; bring back the students.

That's actually a good idea. Make the handlers more like Silver Spurs at UT. Also like the idea of only one rider.

My wife truly hates the new horses along wih a number of long time SMU alum.

My best suggestion is to name them "Liberty" and "Justice", let the athletic department do whatever they want for this season. After the last game, they can be put down, order two cases of Rotel, two cases of Tomato sauce, two pounds of garlic and onions, salt and pepper, make a chili, and we could have "Liberty" and "Justice" for all.

Another alternative is just to send them up to Stillwater, where they belong.
