If I were speaking to a recruit...
I might note that an SMU player was drafte before a player from:
Texas Tech, A&M, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, Iowa State
any other Conference USA West school
any Sunbelt school
any MWC school other than TCU or Utah
any Big East school besides Rutgers or S. Florida
Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington State, georgia, Miss. State, Kentucy, Arkansas

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Did a&m have anyone drafted?

a&m-college station had 1 drafted
a&m-canyon had 2.
So, double your draft chances by playing at WT
another thing I'd tell recruits is, even if you're not drafted, JJ has connections. Not only did Shawnbrey get invited to the combine, but after not getting drafted....look where he signed....anyone recall where JJ's last NFL job was?
Coach does all he can for his players, and has the relationships all over the place to help his players as much as possible

How about the story of Derrius Bell...he will not be playing football anymore, but he is going to get a top education and spend a couple years with some amazing looking women...

Re: If I were speaking to a recruit...
Based on the NFL's draft results website, in the 2nd round:
1) [+] 9 (41) Bills Troup, Torell DT 6'3" 314 Central Florida 5.3 --
2)[+] 14 (46) Giants Joseph, Linval DT 6'4" 328 East Carolina 7.8 --
I think the 41st and 46th picks are from CUSA teams and they went before Sanders. So it doesn't look like we had the highest drafted player from the conference. But he was in the top half of those picked in the draft from the conference (a total of 6 were drafted from CUSA teams).

The post said "Conference USA West", so I assume he knew about the 2 guys from CUSA East that you mentioned.

I would also add before Texas two biggest offensive weapons - McCoy and Shipley.

From the original post:
"I might note that an SMU player was drafte before a player from:

Since there was no other player form CUSA West drafted, the above is somewhat confusing.
A more accurate statement would be the only CUSA West player drafted. That would infer that CUSA West sucks and might not be a big recruiting plus.

West Texas A&M did their yearly trick of getting a player drafted this year with two getting the call, but the puke aggies only had one in the late rounds.

Re: If I were speaking to a recruit...
Hey, I'll just note with all of my research on this... "If I were speaking to a recruit...." my response would be watch what you say.
It's ridiculous - here's an example, I could buy any one of you a burger (and Tide) - as long as you are currently not playing a sport in college - after talking to you on camera about whatever, maybe how you decided to buy your most recent pair of shoes. But if I talk to a current player, I can't buy them a burger no matter what! And seriously, who needs that free burger more? That's ridiculous. I went to SMU.... I can buy a film student a drink/burger/pizza whatever as I talk to him or her about the film game - the whole desire to keep the college game clean is tainted by these kinds of rules. Seriously. My father, a professor, invites his students - all of them - in to his home and provides them with dinner, free of charge. And if they are of age - and most of them are, as most of his students are grad students - they can have a beer or wine if they like. This is what university life should be like. Yet somehow if a person is playing a "money sport" any and all of this would be an infraction.
We were all college students once, AND most of us didn't know the poverty that most of these kids who bring glory to our (or most people's) Alma Mater came from. I'm not trying to say college kids should be paid for their efforts, but the debate should be had. The SEC's current TV contract is worth 10 BILLION dollars over then next 6 or 8 years. TEN BILLION.
Our own University President is one of the heads of the Knight Commission, he says it is out of hand. He played college football. Fact of the matter is, the universities serve as a de facto minor league and the pro sports pay none of it. Colleges make these kids (much more so in the football ranks) famous, and the NFL doesn't have to pay for crap.
Which is cool, or would be if there wasn't so much money in the game.
Look at that Vince Young guy.... absolutely amazing college talent whether you love or hate Texas. Think about this, yeah he has pretty damn good pro contract, but let's say he got injured before the draft, a training accident whatever.... I live in Austin, I have seen the numbers the sale of the number 10 jersey's have netted the university millions. Look at the guy most fans (because of his NFL days) dub Danny Awful - Danny Wuerfell's jersey outsold any other jersey (pro or college) in the state of Florida for years until a guy name Tim Tebow came along.
Anyway, it's a good debate.

Re: If I were speaking to a recruit...
Orrrr you could make it easy and say:
"In his nine seasons as TCU's head coach, Gary Patterson has had 47 players sign NFL contracts."

and yet you could take the number of HC jobs he's had in the NFL and multiply that by 1,000 and it would still be less than JJ.

JJ had more than *50* players sign NFL contracts during his 9 years as head coach at Hawaii...and he had to deal with how it was hard for scouts to get to see Hawaii players in person (partially solved by JJ moving Hawaii's Pro Day to LA).
JJ's recruiting classes in Hawaii also were ranked lower than TCU's, so JJ got more players to sign NFL contracts even though his players were rated lower coming out of high school. That says a *little* about how his coaching staff develops players for the NFL and how JJ has a lot of NFL contacts.
So, you still think that is a good point to bring up, FroggieFever?

Fendi Onobun from Houston was drafted in the 6th round. Maybe the above was only confusing for you?
