BTW - the copious shots of BUS or on purpose but not on purpose. If you get what I mean, which I am sure you don't. I tasked my shooters with trying to find people we shot throughout the season. "Somehow" my guys were always able to find BUS. I think this is less of a testament to the fan-man-crush we should all obviously have for BUS, and more a testament to how easy it his to find BUS in a crowd. All joking aside, BUS wears his heart/SMU fandom on his sleeve/bald pate - I think we shot him so much because his emotion, I, and I think we as a team feel, really reflects the core, the heart if I can be so bold, of the SMU fan. Especially the long suffering SMU fan. So yes, we did shoot BUS a ton - but I don't think anyone out there can fault us for using his visage to convey the emotions of what we all have been, were, and are feeling about our Mustangs.

I hope that little man cried for all the tears he's forced out of grown men.
He pretended he already knew me when I first met him... which of course made me feel a little weird once we were actually introduced. But then again, June did tell him quite a bit about me, so maybe he wasn't pretending. But still, I was kind of taken aback. He's like "Thad, so good to see you, etc. etc." and I'm like, you too! And then I am introduced and it made sense. Or it didn't. Of course then I made him cry, you know, just for old times sake. That's a joke. But damn, even people who loathe Notre Dame cry while watching the movie that his name is attached too. I think it's totally the college football fan's football movie. We all know how badly we want to be a part of the team we love. And it's such a great sort of moment in time - and who cares if it's schmaltzy? - a picture of the underdog who wanted it so badly he made it happen. I know there are some of us on this board that played for our Mustangs. But Rudy, the film, allows us all to believe that maybe, just maybe we could run on to the field wearing the uniform of the team we love.

I'll move the lady folk. But you are right, always - even as a die-hard SMU fan - I am always singing, "Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame..." Sure, I was raised in a Catholic family so my mom (the biggest overall sports fan of my folks even thought my dad is a die-hard fan of all teams St. Louis... my mom taught me to be fan of all sports and teams) grew up loving the Irish and we watched them a ton when I was young.... but I soured to them when my brother decided he wanted to go there and then didn't get accepted due to ND's quota of how many students they could accept per Catholic high school. My brother - as I later did as well - went to Jesuit, and of course we both found SMU to be our school and loved it, but I always have held a grudge towards ND. I never wanted to go there, but I still think and frankly know, that my bro is the kind of person any university would want. But... all the same... Rudy makes me cry like a baby. Or like a woman watching The Notebook.
