Hey so I thought this link was useful for breaking down how players were rated out of High School compared to how they finished their collegiate careers. I know it's a debate amonst many of us whether we should trust June's eye for talent and his staff's player development, or be concerned with the low number of highly rated prospects (the Stallion model)

I'm sure it shows what every other analysis shows-that NFL potential goes up at every star class. The problem with using Scout though is they don't do a good job analyzing anything but about the top half of the class and fail to adjust ratings to reflect increased recruitment by more teams.

The number of 5 stars taken in the 7th round is only 2 or 3 off from the number of 5 stars taken in the 1st round.

I can agree with Stallion that Scout does a crummy job evaluating the second tier talent, and adjusting midseason. However, Scout or Rivals, the 4 and 5 star talent evaluation is usually pretty similar and many of the players seen as Not Rated or 2 Stars would be still be no higher than a 3 star recruit on Rivals usually. Given that, I think its really interesting to see which highly rated recruits make it to the first round, and which 2 star/3 Star and even unrated recruits make it. Like the title says, I think player evaluation and development plays a huge role.

I think in an earlier thread the number of JJ's recruits sent to the NFL was something like 20. If you look at his recruiting classes at Hawaii, for most of the time except maybe the final two years his classes were mostly 2 and 3 star recruits.
