what you aren't grasping is that Doh may think our stud PG recruit is Jeremiah. This kid wasn't signed as a back up plan to Fab. we'd have taken both and let them go at each other, but you are making it seem like Fab was the definitive preference of the staff.NickSMU17 wrote:He better fit well b/c doh ran off our stud pg recruit

well I guess Doherty failed then. No I do grasp it after years of following it. Fact is signing and placing is very overrated. The best thing it does is inflate your recruiting ranking on signing date to make the coach look better. You might get him-he also may flunk out. You may not need a PG in 2 years so he looks elsewhere. There is probably a greater than 50% chance Doherty ain't coaching here in 2 years. If he plays well-there is zero guarantee you will get him especially with a kid who has no natural connection to SMU or even this part of the country. If he plays poorly you can walk away. You'll see this with all the guys June Jones signs and places. If 1/3rd end up at SMU then that's about right. Its a longshot especially if the kid blows up. Now if a kid has a special interest in the area or in particular SMU it might work out. I really don't see that with this kid. Sure go ahead and sign and place as long as you realize there is a great chance he will never actually play at SMU.

Bartow Florida. Isn't that like southeast of Plant City? The kid is in for a culture shock in Dallas. Welcome to SMU, Jeremiah and make us all proud.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Isn't this the same attitude Bennett had? Lets get my guys and I'll coach them up. That worked out well for us before.PonyDoh wrote:what you aren't grasping is that Doh may think our stud PG recruit is Jeremiah. what became of the kid from UNew Orleans?
Re: We got our point guard.....
Signing and placing in hoops matters, not so much in football. You always want to try and control the moves of the best players. We placed two kids last year alone, and both matriculated. I understand all the ways it can go, but it tends to work out in hoops, especially when the kid could still qualify or be a prep candidate. If we had signed Fab and placed him, it's stretch that he'd be a Mustang, but your chances are a ton better then not placing him.Stallion wrote:well I guess Doherty failed then. I wonder if that's the Kiski School in Pennsylvania. My high school team - which admittedly might have been the worst high school basketball team in America - played against Kiski. My senior year, I started at center. I'm 6'2" ... almost.indianmustang wrote:lets get these two

Pretty sure I would have made those guys look like All-Americas ... or maybe I would have quit the team.

Blair signed with Oklahoma. Flunked Doh's evaluation. Not good enough for CUSA but good enough for BIG 12. Transcripts were probably a problem too.RGV Pony wrote:what became of the kid from UNew Orleans?

Or maybe he just chose the Big 12, like anyone else would
