Incoming Freshman Amanda Burgardt Named Player of the Year

DALLAS (SMU) - Incoming SMU recruit Amanda Burgardt was named Fort Worth Star-Telegram girls soccer Super Team Player of the Year by the publication on Wednesday. Burgardt scored 31 goals this season for the Lady Warriors.
Burgardt scored 100 goals in her high school career, setting a new Arlington Martin record. Led by Burgardt, the Lady Warriors went undefeated through District 4-5A and advanced to the regional tournament.
Burgardt trained with the Under-15 US National Team, and is a member of the Region III Olympic Development Program team. She was also named to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram "Super Team" in 2008, as well as being named to the TASCO All-Region team. She was named second-team All-District by the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram in 2007. Burgardt played club soccer for Polaris '92, who were twice North Texas State Cup Finalists and were North Texas State Cup Semifinalists in 2008. An all-around athlete, Burgardt also was team MVP in volleyball and basketball in high school. Burgardt is ranked as the No. 54 recruit in the nation and No. 9 in Texas by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
