SMU future RB blows by Texas Tech future RB in track meet!

Postby Insane_Pony_Posse » Mon May 10, 2010 9:22 am

SMU 2010 running back signee Darryl Fields' won the 100m and 200m in the
Oklahoma 4A state finals. SMU's future running back beat his competition racing
against Texas Tech running back commitment Delans Griffin. Running the final leg of
the 1,600 relay, Fields overcame a deficit of approximately 25 meters to win the race
for his team. PONY UP!

Oh boy! Keep the good news coming. Can picture him now with the "flying pony" on his helmet a blur like the good old days with the pony express!

Unfortunately, Fields' time was eclipsed by Tech signee Ben McRoy of Lakeland HS (FL) who ran a 20.93 200...smoking fast. evidently his previous PR was 21.43. I think he ran around 10.5 hundred. I'll take Fields' 21.95 or whatever at 205 before I'll take McRoy's 20.93 since he's around 170 or so

good point. If you were a lber or strong safety, which would you least like to have to bring down once he's gotten past the first level

Texas Tech recruited Ben McRoy as a Wide Reciever....
so it's a bit of "apples to oranges" to compare him to Fields...
the guy Fields beat in this track meet was recruited as a RB just like Fields.

Fields is an absolute beast. Think of what we will have with Fields, Pope, and Nmlechi (sp?) all on campus. That's some real talent at the RB position for a R&S team. Added with Darius Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Kyle Guinyard, etc.... We are going to be some explosive mfers in the coming years.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I just hope it translates to the field. Richuel Massey was extremely fast and productive at Hillsboro but it didn't translate onto the field very well. There were other issues though.
Michael Jordan plays ball. Charles Manson kills people. I talk.

I predict this kid will be one of the best recruits ever at SMU....he is at 205 and hasn't even focused on his strength...he will be here at 220-225 in the fall...he is Eric Dickerson re-incarnated! A steal....He is......... the worlds most interesting running back....the boogy man hides under the bed...from him.

One of the best recruits ever?
Dickerson reincarnated?
What say we tap the brakes a little here?
I hope Fields is as good as everyone seems to think he might be, but he has not yet taken a single snap in college.
