They also want the chance to win a national championship, and unfortunately, in the situation we are in right now, a team not in the AQ conferences has no shot at winning a national championship.

As for "tall WR's," that's never been JJ's M.O. Look at the guys he had at Hawaii during the Sugar Bowl year. Davone Bess 5'10" Ryan Grice-Mullen 5'11" etc. JJ likes the guys that are that size.

I wouldnt say that, If Boise St. wins all their games I see them playing for the NC... theyre preseason ranked at #2 returning something like 21/23 starting players from last seasons team...

I am not sure he has ever lured a big time QB.

With that said - I agree that you would think that one would want to play in his offense.

just to set this notion straight... facts son... Timmy Chang was like the 14th best QB in the nation when he was recruited out of St Louis in Hawaii... He had close to 90 TD passes in 3 years, and was a prep all american.. JJ convinced colt brennan to walk on and EARN a scholarship, and he did... Davone Bess was a victim of a huge misunderstanding, and went on to have a stellar and problem free career at UH, now the best WR on the Dolphins Roster...

bottom line is, SMU is getting the interest of high caliber recruits that they havent been able to do in decades... and this time theyre doing it the right way... SMU in 2010 has more interest in one season from high caliber recruits than theyve had from all the past seasons combined since the Death Penalty... that says a lot on what JJ has brought and where the program is headed... how many of these recruits end up signing remains to be seen but you have to admit there is excitement for the program that has been long long overdue...

Colt Brennan turned down a scholarship from San Jose State to walk on at UH. To say that he came from a state pen truly shows a lack of understanding of the facts.

Brandon Marshall may have something to say about that.

brandon marshall has been declining every single season since his 2nd year in both yards and avg per catch... his hip injury isnt going to help his cause vs a healthy davone bess who in his second year led the team as a reciever... miami will utilize marshall because afterall theyre paying him, but when the game is on the line they will turn to bess who is their most sure handed receiver and is always a threat when he has the ball in his hands...

You don't think downgrading the QB position had anything to do with his drop in YPC? How about the increased emphasis in the running game? Maybe the fact that there was no other receiving option? You are saying that at this time Bess is a better receiver than Marshall?

Even with Marshall's "decrease" he still averaged 1.1 YPC more than Bess last year. Bess is going to have to have more than one 758 yard / 2 TD season before he is going to be better than Marshall. In fact - if you add up Bess' first 2 years, it's just a little better than what Marshall did last year minus about 7 TD's.

In fact, Bess is much more comparable to a TE in terms of YPC. Check out his numbers compared to Jason Witten or Heath Miller. Don't kid yourself... Marshall is a HUGE upgrade at receiver for the Dolphins.
