She is a former player who did not like the benching of her goalkeeper teammate two-and-a-half years ago. She's been on Erwin's case ever since.

One of the Vultures here.... wrong again. August and I DO have first hand knowledge of the grievences since BE's hiring and redpony is just a zealous fan wanting the program to get back to where it was prior to BE"s hiring. One of the good things that has come of this is Derek Leader being promoted. He basically runs the practices and the girls like him and his knowledge and tactics.

I find it bizarre that you and august have anointed yourselves advocate for the aggrieved player.

This isn't about one instance of impropriety. This is the first to be brought to suit. There have been issues from his start. But let's see where the suit leads. I have no dog in the fight but would like to see a person held accountable for inappropriate, unnecessary, and at times improper conduct.

I'd like to see persons held accountable for slander on this board.

And I find it bizarre that you seem to blindly support Brent no matter how badly he behaves. Even RealSMUfan acknowledges some of his shortcomings. Emily doesn't need my advocacy; she has an attorney for that and her issue is really just a symptom of the bigger problem.

On the contrary, I simply choose not to be drawn into your personal vendetta. You've probably forgotten, but you sent me a PM in the fall of 2008 that stated your grievance. You didn't like the benching of your goalkeeper friend.

No, no, I haven't forgotten that Brent did not start SMU's last All American Hermann Trophy finalist on Senior Day. In fact, he didn't put her in for her final game here until we were up by like 3 goals in the last few minutes. Not exactly how to build morale and respect your players.
You were new here then and had no idea how things had declined to that point - yup, remember it well.

She was not an All American Hermann Trophy finalist her senior year. I saw the game that resulted in her benching and the benching was well-deserved. At least your motivations are clear.

August did not say she was a Hermann Trophy finalist her senior year...she said she was the last Hermann trophy finalist we've had. She was on the list her Junior year..a year in which he started the senior keeper, Amy Bennett, on senior day in front of Gunter...in fact he started all seniors that day.

Hey coaches make decisions which people disagree with on the field. They watch the practices, they know if disciplinary measures are important. My concern with BE is that his coaching and playing experience prior to SMU was in MEN'S soccer not women's soccer. Motivating men is different than motivating women. Also men don't have some of the biological issues that women have (excpet for maybe a few members of the Los Angeles Lakers, but I digress). It sounds like many of the BE issues are not so much his tactical issues, but these kind of participation issues (who gets benched, who plays and for how long). Its never easy inheriting players from a popular coach. Its also never easy changing formats and perhaps seeing some players not thrive in that format. On the other hand if he is not handling his own recruits very well, that reflects poorly on his recruiting processes in that he is not vetting players well.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
