KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageLast summer, quarterback Kyle Padron was one of the SMU Mustangs' freshmen just hoping to get through the team's optional conditioning workouts in the sweltering Texas heat. A year later, the sophomore-to-be has bulked up and is among the leaders as the team begins preparations for the upcoming 2010 season.
Padron visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his role with the team, how the players' relationships with each other affects their performance on the field, and his goal for Ponies' encore after winning the 2009 Hawaii Bowl. http://www.ponyfans.com/features/index.php?id=170 Enjoy! Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageOne of your best stories yet ... and considering the history of this site, that's saying a lot.
Keep it up!
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageGreat stuff PP. I believe that Kyle can lead this team to a CUSA Championship this year and as well as victory over Tech. Pony Up!

Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageSo great to have a guy like Kyle leading this team.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageFantastic story. Padron might be playing the bashful "team player," but it appears clear that even at his young age, he is becoming a strong team leader who shows the way to his teammates through his actions.
Full steam ahead, Kyle. Go Ponies!
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageMaybe the coaches and media don't want to make the same mistake or put any undue pressure on Kyle as the prior qb. He was fantastic as a freshman and the touch he puts on the ball helped to dramatically reduce the drops by the receivers. If he keeps working and keeps a humble attitude, he could be the best of the SLC qbs and the first one drafted (Chandler was a qb but a te at Iowa and the NFL). Big-time upside. How many games has he started as a high school and college QB? Yea, not even one full season of games! Meredith, Hixon, Ford, Padron.
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageGreat article. It's good to know that Padron's age isn't hindering his ability to make an impact as a team leader. I really enjoyed the part about Padron and Aldrick and their willingness to accept criticism from one another. This team certainly has come a long way in the last two years. Go Stangs!

Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of agePadron looks like he could be an exceptional player.
It sounds like he's well on his way to being an even better leader.

Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageCouldn't agree more.
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageKyle is really solidifying his leadership role and look forward to see how he progresses this fall. When I saw him with his pads off after the final Spring practice he looked like more like a linebacker than a QB. It should make him even more sturdier this year and his new strength has definitely made his passes more crisp and long.
Thanks for the article guys!
Re: KYLE PADRON: Coming of ageIs it wrong to have a hero who is 10 to 12 years your junior?
