How is this any different than what we have expected for the past week? If A&M doesn't go to the PAC 10 it is only because they go SEC. This doesn't change our potential scenarios any from what I can tell. More just the formal announcement of something that was already expected.

I am just stating that this is best possible situation for us...It gives us the best chance to play better and bigger teams...

well slightly because Utah will probably go to the PAC somewhat destablizing the core of the MWC.

I think that is our best hope, don't you? Any way I could figure it before, we probably needed one more spot open in the MWC to have a decent shot at an invite (and/or Iowa State to head to the MAC.)

no BCS school will VOLUNTARILY move to a non-AQ conference (ie Iowa State to the MAC)...we are not positioned well, certainly not as well as TCU, but have little choice but to see where the cards fall and(hopefully) merge/re-emerge in an upgraded CUSA, MWC or a downgraded former Big 12.

the key for us i think is who has the leverage in a merger, the MWC or the left behind Big12. If its the MWC, that doesnt bode well. If its Kansas and Mizzou, I think that does bode well for us. I have to think Kansas would rather come to Dallas to play SMU than go to Laramie or San Diego State. If we don't have a good relationship with KU, we're in trouble. Paging Lamar Hunt from heaven...

If true, then the PAC is only waiting on # 16 - either A&M or Utah? I thought the PAC revenue sharing deal was less favorable than what Texas could dictate by remaining as the king pin of the Big XII. I guess the final "financial terms" are being worked on or this would have been made official. The so called "student athlete" really suffers in this arrangement. I'm sure the athletes in the non-revenue sports are anxiously awaiting those trips to Corvalis, Pullman, etc...

As far as offsetting A&M, the talk here is adding North Carolina and Duke on the east. Possibly Kansas in the west. They could wrap of the NCAA basketball money and still have good football.

OK Stallion, we know that Tech is in allignment with Texas and headed to the PAC10 but Tech will NEVER become a flagship school. Have you ever been to Lubbock? Lubbuck is not a cool college town. Texas government can put all the money they want to into the school but the town is small, it smells, is dirty and hard to get to. If I were 18 again, I would consider a lot of schools to go to before Tech.

Go stangs!

There have only been about 2,000 stories about the Texas legislature creating a third flagship school in Texas. Guess you can't read. 7 schools have made presentations. UH, Texas Tech, UNT, U of Dallas, etc
