Texas holds the key to the MWC's future. If Texas decides to stay in the Big XII, Utah could go west, TCU could also leave the MWC for the Big XII and the MWC would likely look to plunder the WAC if they want to grow to 12 members.
Still plenty of possibilities, but Texas dictates what will ultimately happen in all of this.

There isn't gonna be a big 12. Texas would be staying nowhere.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

I think it's the belief of everyone, and every article backs this up, that Texas is leaving the Big 12, in fact there is no chance they stay (they go either PAC or Big Ten). With that knowledge being held as fact, the only real domino to fall that can really shake things up is whether or not A&M goes Pac with the rest of the schools, or goes SEC. If Agg goes SEC, then Kansas goes to Pac and Big 12 ceases to exist. If Agg goes Pac, there is a slim chance the leftovers of the Big 12 try and hold the Big 12 together and raid CUSA West and best of the MWC. IMO that is our best hope.

Texas is winning friends and influencing people faster than ever. Their list of victims include SMU, TCU, Houston, Rice, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State. Who knows who the next ones are that they will screw? Maybe Cal, Stanford, They might even get another shot at TCU. One of these days, there victims will out number their alumni base and they might have to pay for what they have done. Thanks to them, college football will never be the same.

MVC seems to be in a good position. Now currently at 9 teams, they can pick a couple and make themselves pretty strong for that AQ. TCU positioned themselves well.

While I agree that Texas is to blame for the demise of the SWC, I really see Missouri as the catalyst to this realignment and catalyst is the perfect word because in the end they will be the ones left behind.

Even today, Texas could hold the Big XII (the remaining 10 teams) together. But they won't. They again will selfishly look at the dollars they can get in their coffers and to hell with everyone else.

Look, I hate Texas as much as the next guy. They are egotistial, vain, and self centered.
That being said, and this is actually kind of a question I would be interested to hear the answer to, what is Texas doing that SMU wouldn't do in the same position? Are we not also looking out for #1?
#1 for us just happens to have less of an impact on the football world.

If all Texas wanted was $$ they'd go independant and start up their own UT network for TV. Come to think of it, that's probably what they should do. They could program UT sports pretty much around the clock.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Well said. The tea sippers are determined to be another Notre Dame & be more independent-minded - whatever this could mean - with or without a conference. Got to give them credit, they've done their homework. Their own TV network & the works. All the more reason, in their eyes, to become the team of Texas (& the Southwest) vs. all us other little peasants (SMU, TCU, Houston, Rice, Baylor, Tech, & even TAMU). They must keep the rest of us in our place & any threat that we can make against the bcs-BS must be snuffed out.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

In reality, I wish college football would abolish conferences and that way we can all go back to the traditional conferences for all other sports. SWC basketball, baseball, and track would make a lot of sense for all of us.

Once again NavyCrimson is on the nose. I will always contend that they orchestrated the break-up of the SWC, and their desire to corner the recruiting market at the expense of SMU, U of H and TCU was probably more important to them than the money. Remember those epic recruiting battles in the 80's? Little Freddie Akers couldnt compete with SMU so he and DeLoss put us on probation and then decided not to play at all.

Why would they? Its a big business and UT is doing what they can to solidify their position going forward just as every school is, and its not selfish, but smart business planning. The ability to expand and get new market share and the potential to be involved in a super conference with maximum exposure from here in Texas all the way out to the whole western USA and starting at $20 million a year per team is not greedy at all, but prudent.
