I really think our best chance here is for the Big 12 to stay nearly in tact, then lets continue to elevate our on field performance and attendance/interest and be ready for good things when this whole non sense starts again.

Hell, it would probably be good for us if TCU went to the Big 12 and we take their spot in the Mountain West.

We need minimal changes this go around so that if/when the big bomb drops in aother two to four years, we are in a better position of strength.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

the north is decimated without Nebraska. If they go, not sure how they fill that hole. the funny part is that if Nebraska gets concessions and declines Big10, would Mizzou step back into the big 10 picture?

No way Nebraska changes their mind at this point. The regents are already in closed session. The vote is at 1:00. Any concessions would have had to come long ago, and I'm not sure there is much they could have offered. That ship sailed pretty much completely when Jim Tressel showed up in Lincoln a couple of months ago. Anything short of giving them back Oklahoma probably wouldn't have done it.

who knows, maybe the regents are in closed session hearing a final proposal from Deloss Dodds on the polycom phone. Not hard for me to see Nebraska leaving, but it is hard for me to see that Kansas, Mizzu, and others won't make one serious last ditch offer that is pretty juicy for Nebraska.

I'm surprised there isn't more of this talk on the board today; everyone knows Texas will dictate whether the Big XII remains together and one source supposedly reported today that Texas might entertain an arrangement where SMU/TCU join Texas, Tech, A&M and Baylor in the south while OU and OSU move to the Big XII north.

Only rivalry impacted is Texas vs OU which can be solved by adopting the scheduleing model the SEC uses to preserve Georgia/Auburn and Bama/Tenn - the "permanent" opponent from the other division. This arrangement would set up a possible rematch between Texas and OU for the conference title. How badly did Texas want that 2 years ago when OU advanced on the tiebreaker and ultimately got the invite to get whipped by Florida in the National Championship game?

I assume the only way Texas would consider this would be for a revised revenue sharing agreement. I assume SMU officials would bend over and accept whatever terms the whorns dictated.

Is this scenario dead? Has Texas to PAC 10 been confirmed?

Done deal from many sources....not even a chance of them staying together. The TAMU card needs to be played yet....SEC or not?..we will know soon.

I could see the SEC getting interested in A&M, but only if they pulled in another eastern school to offset. Florida State or possibly Va Tech, because I don't know if they could get UNC.

they would be a good fit, but SEC already has SC so they don't expand the TV market. UNC and Va Tech would be most attractive, but the addition of Florida State would all but lock down Florida talent, recruiting wise

"DeLoss Dodds wants Big 12 to remain intact?"

After the tea sippers leave, of course.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

DeLoss was at the UT-TCU baseball game hanging out with Mack. Checked his Blackberry every now and then but just was hanging out. He was drinking from a plastic cups while everyone else was drinking from a can (soda only).

The female AD was next to him and they did talk quite a bit.

You would have to be pretty naive to believe that DeLoss and the Pac 10 officials havent had a pretty specific $$$ commitment from the TV networks for quite some time. DeLoss was also purportedly working to keep the SWC together until all fell apart. Right. And Baylor might as well kiss off their relationship with the big state schools. They bring nothing to the table and there is no limit to UT's greed.

Actually, if UT leaves wouldn't he want it to break up so that he does not have to pay the exit fee to the schools that remain?
