is this the ultimate show of hubris? All along I suspected Aggy was doing this just to show that they arent subservient and wouldnt just do whatever Texas told them to...but eventually I figured they'd go to the Pac 10 anyway. Now, they're killing the UT-A&M rivalry and, I think opening the door to Tech to do what Stallion's been saying and become the third Texas flagship institution. A&M's been an also-ran in the Big XII of late...now what will they be in a league that's better than that, without the built in annual spotlight game vs Bevo?

I would bet the UT/TAM game will still be played every year.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Interesting if this is true, because this article was just added. Apparently, aTm is not the SEC's first choice.

I really have a hard time believing that the SEC has extended an offer to aTm or is even close to doing that. I suppose the expected move by UT, TT, OU and OSU could make it a reality. I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

SEC would be very foolish not to add A&M to extend its footprint into the second biggest state in the country. I know I've read these articles that say that but it just doesn't make sense.

No, I'm with you there (about the footprint.) I just cannot see the SEC giving aTm a bid without adding another team along with it. In fact, I don't think they will. Who is the mystery team??? (That is a rhetorical question.)

If the Aggies cannot commit, the Pac-10 is prepared to invite Kansas with its great basketball tradition. While the Jayhawks are desperate to find a landing spot, they would have to leave in-state rival Kansas State, a political problem.

Texas A&M does not have a firm invitation to join the Southeastern Conference and may not receive one at all, a very highly-placed school official at one of the Big 12 schools expected to leave for the Pac-10 Conference no later than Tuesday told the Statesman on Saturday afternoon.

Could aTm be committing suicide, or are they just trying to make it "appear" as if they have options?

I can't believe that A&M would publicly "choose" SEC over PAC without having an offer unofficially on the table from SEC. Of course, they are aggies, so who knwos.

Now: if aggy to SEC, does the SEC take 1 in Texas, or 2?

I personally think the Aggies would be a good fit for the SEC west and will certainly have them tempted to expand; does create a problem for them with needing to add a 14th. Aggies bring the Texas markets, but not sure how they can balance this on the eastern side

SEC go to 16, add two in the east and two in Texas - aggy and SMU. SMU helps cover the DFW area by getting tons of SEC teams here.

Sounds like more delusion than dream.
