Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahI just wonder how many BcS Bowls they think they can get in if they are in a Division with Texas, OU, Texas Tech, Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado, and Oklahoma State?
Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahWhat a very weak argument this article (surely it must be an editorial) makes.
The criteria for getting into a BCS conference sure are all over the place. #NewLobCity
Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahI can see the Pac10 discussions now:
President #1: "But is Utah a fit athletically, academically and culturally? Will they help us increase revenues enough to offset their additional piece of the pie?" President #2: "Who cares about that stuff? They have an airport, they can ski and Jim Nance got his start there. What else do you need to know?" I'm sold. Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahIf the PAC 10 becomes 12, I wonder how the divisions will be set up? My guess would be USC, UCLA, ASU, Ariz, Utah & Colorado. The Utes might compete pretty well against that group
Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahThis "academic" angle the PAC-10 (is trying to present) is really being played way too much.
After living here in LA going on 20 years now, all I can say is: WAY OVER PLAYED. But oh well, back to the salt minds until the next alignment chaos. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Daily Utah - MWC hurts UtahAs any one who follows the PAC will tell you the set up of Divisions in the PAC may itself cause huge dissension in that league. The biggest reason there has never been expansion to 12 in the PAC was because no one wanted to give up playing in LA every year for recruiting purposes. Going to 12 never would have gone through if they had known they were going to 12 w/o Texas schools. The original PAC 8 all thought they were staying together. This should be a doozy. How about splitting the traditional rivals in two then playing a mandatory traditional rival in a non-division game. Lots of ways to do it but for discussion something like this
USC Arizona Washington Oregon Utah Stanford UCLA Arizona St Washington St Oregon St Colorado Cal Traditional Cross Over Game USC/UCLA Washinton/Washington St Oregon/Oregon St Stanford/Cal Colorado/Utah Arizona/ASU "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
