Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!ESPN just said UT, Tech, OU, OSU departure to Pac10 imminent.
See new thread.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!Would love for Big 12 to survive with the 10. Then PAC10 finishes its job by taking UTAH. Then after TV studies, Big 12 takes BYU crushing MWC and leaving TCU on an island.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!
I agree with you. Haven't any of you seen someone who wants to get out of a relationship without being the bad guy? They (Texas) treat their girlfriend (A&M/rest of Big 12) somewhat badly (make the Big 12 seem totally unstable) and make unreasonable demands (crazy share of the TV money, etc). Eventually the girl (Nebraska/A&M) ends the relationship (goes to Big-10/SEC), which is what the guy (Texas) wants, and he (Texas) gets to be the good guy (Texas: "we wanted to stay in Big 12, but everyone left") and go date that hot thing he had his eye on (Pac-10).
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!
Arkansas is going nowhere and Texas will never play in a conference with SMU or TCU. The Hogs will play a game at Jerryworld every year, or any time they like, giving them all the recruiting presence they need in Dallas. They don't need to play us or even TCU to maintain their presence here now that JJ has turned Arlington into Fayetteville South.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!
I'm not so sure Texas would NEVER play in a league with SMU/TCU. JerryWorld could be used to accomodate 'Horns fans. But yeah, it's unlikely.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!Will House hearing come too late?
By Jason Embry | Monday, June 14, 2010, 06:17 AM Conference moves expected soon, Perry is in China and you need to watch these Herman videos. The Statesman’s Ralph Haurwitz has a pretty thorough look this morning at where things stand on conference realignment. House Higher Education Committee Chairman Dan Branch tells him he hopes schools wait to decide their fate until after his committee holds a Wednesday hearing on the issue. “I’m feeling confident that these institutions will not take any final action before the Wednesday hearing,†Branch told the American-Statesman. “They respect the Legislature and understand that we’re going to have a hearing.†Haurwitz continues, “While Pac-10 Conference representatives flew from one Big 12 stop to the next issuing informal invitations, Texas A&M has not spurned that league’s offer but is still weighing its options and considering the Pac-10 and the Southeastern Conference, an A&M school spokesman told the Statesman Sunday. Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott and deputy commissioner Kevin Weiberg flew in a private plane and made stops at College Station, Lubbock and Austin to hand out invitations to join their conference. Others, however, are fighting hard to preserve what’s left of the Big 12 after announced exits by Colorado (which is leaving for the Pac-10) and Nebraska (Big Ten). ‘The Aggies are trying to slow this down,’ a top Big 12 school official said Sunday afternoon.†• From the Houston Chronicle’s Brent Zwerneman: “Texas A&M has grown starry-eyed for the Southeastern Conference, an Aggies insider said Sunday, and A&M considers its overall athletic endeavors grander than the death of a conference rivalry game on Thanksgiving. A&M’s board of regents likely will meet late this week — perhaps as soon as Thursday — to decide the Aggies’ sporting future, a person with knowledge of the situation said. And that future appears to be the SEC, as the powerful league to the east is prepared to lure A&M away from the clinging-to-hope Big 12, a proposed Pacific-10 affiliation and its storied league rivalry with Texas.â€
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!I have no doubt that Chip Brown had someone tell him this, but I can't believe this is anything more than posturing by UT so Dodds can say "I tried to save the conference" to make himself look he's not the money-grubbing con artist that he is. I can't believe UT stays.
Besides, there are conflicting reports. At the same time that CB put this report out, another source told ESPN the mass exit to the Pac-16 is "imminent" and that the last-minute plan to save the Big 12 has "zero" chance to succeed. Stay tuned. Proud to be a PonyFan
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!Dan Branch is an SMU law alum. What are we, the Kevin Bacons of the realignment world?
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!Sports guy for NYT saying they are staying
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!On CBS Sportsnews.com, Stallings is saying that A&M wants to stay in the Big XII (10). So no one wants the blood on their hands from this. Which is pretty funny to watch. They're all whores, its just now down to what's the price?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!So do they stay at 10 or add Memphis and one other school to get back to 12? Add Memphis and Air Force. or Memphis & BYU.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!they don't need to add anyone. Better question-why would any worthy team trust this bunch unless it was a small private school in a major Texas metropolitan area that had nothing better to lose.

Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!
Well, if you aren't currently in a BCS conference, you join and begin to be thought of as a BCS team, do well at all, and you are going to be a better candidate when things shake up again than you would be if you weren't in the BCS conference. Generally. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!And we thought the original Big XII was a marriage of convenience...wow
Re: Texas Staying in Big 12!!!Maybe SMU's Big Boys have been the ones all along with a masterplan to deadlock the Big 12 and make it so unstable that all other prospects turned them down-leaving SMU as the only school to pick up pieces. BRILLIANT!!! Thank You SMU Alumnus Chip Brown. Half kiddin'. But certainly Utah would definitely go to the PAC when once they might have considered Big 12. Even TCU might end up in worse shape in 2 years by taking a Big 12 offer today
