If the Big 12 were to invite two more teams to get back to 12 members, I think it would be smart for them to move OU and OSU to the north. With Nebraska gone, the north is going to be even more horrible than before. Those two teams would give legitimacy to the north and set up an OU/UT championship game. There would then be two open spots in the south. I don't see them adding two more Texas teams, making it an all Texas south. With the upped tv revenue, Arkansas may be tempted to move back. They haven't done crap since they left the SWC. If that happened, one more Texas school could be a possibility.

BTW, my only source on any of this lives in the space between my ears.

'hilltop1 says: "what i haven't seen on this board yet--with all the smu to big 12 wishful thinking--is that texas has leveraged pac-x invite (plan b) into a very favorable new tv deal (plan A) and gotten a big 12 they can dominate even easier than ever."

Didn't TU try this with the old SWC before it fell apart in '94? I am assuming that the PAC10 is quite mad at them for this stunt by now. Kinda like being used & abused. LOL!!! We can all imagine that they may have burned some bridges with them.

If they move OU and OSU to the North, it really makes the North stronger than before with Colorado and Nebraska. But what about the South then ? Unless they can add two more teams, they just can't have a North and South division :?: :?: :D

Well. Texas & A$M has us (& everyone else) where they want us - outside the bcs-BS. When you think of it, why would any conference give teams like SMU a chance to "come to life" again? Why? Because they know we will. In time, we would be challenging them for conference titles & the works. If I were TU & A$M, I wouldn't want SMU or TCU in my conference either & I definitely wouldn't want them in the bcs-BS!

Nothing will change until the non-bcs-BS members decide to fight this - by taking it through the court system or whatever means necessary to break the cartel. But till that time comes, bend over for some more screw'n!

I think this is the real crux of the point there. The only way teams like TCU or SMU move up is if conferences(Pac-10 or SEC) want to expand into Texas and cant get any of the big boys. This gives them access to the state for both TV and recruiting. It doesnt look like its gonna happen now, but next round of reshuffling it may.

Of course if the MWC can get BCS status that would throw a wrench in everything and SMU would love to be in that conference then.

even though I consider this scenario highly unlikely, SMU/Houston would bring a few things to the table. Texas) would believe they're getting two seemingly easy wins, trips to Dallas and Houston (to Jerryworld and Reliant) and, possibly money if they were willing to get two desparate teams that would take a fraction of what the other teams make...since they'd have the "pushover" games, they'd feel free to schedule marquee out of conference games. if this happens, I'll buy Thad a beer at Ford

No more North, no more South. Everyone plays everyone else for a true conference champ. No Championship Game. Look for lots of whining from Austin the first time a tie occurs and they lose out on the tie-breaker.

This time? How about AGAIN!
God's a Baylor fan, obviously. They sure don't deserve to be included.

Very well said.

That's the problem with all this BS. Everything is based on what the teams do now. Not what they "will do" once they are included with the bcs as a conference member - with the exclusion of SMU, TCU, & Houston - both in large metropolitan TV markets. Funny how the news media never bring this up.

You're right about Baylor, Mr. Pony. LOL! On another note, as long as these spineless college presidents have us alums always ready & willing to give, give, give our hard earned dollars to all their various causes & athletics, why fight the bcs-BS??? In this economy, which will no doubt get worse with these idiots in Washington, that gravy train may be coming to an end in the not so distant future!

But in a bad economy beer and booze sales go up! And bring back tobacco advertising. FYI, has anyone noticed that the liquor companies are beginning to move into TV advertising in a big way. Tequila, Rum, Vodka....
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
