Texas Press Conference1. 10 teams-no expansion-long term deal
2. ABC agreed to same payout even though 2 less teams through 2016. No definite Contract with Fox but they are hopeful based on projections 3. I think this boils down to Texas went to PAC to see if they would agree to Longhorn Network but PAC would not agree 4. Something about Opera/school plays filling time on Bevo Network Last edited by Stallion on Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:59 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Texas Press ConferenceTuesday night opera get-together. I'll bring the sweet tea.
Re: Texas Press Conferenceblows my mind that the Big 12 would give up the visibility of a primetime championship game. I suppose they think that OU and UT can both get into more Nat Championship and bcs games if they don't knock each other off a second time. Hard to believe the BCS and other conferences that are now growing will allow that to happen though.
Re: Texas Press Conference
There is still a conference championship game. Only now, it will take place in October in Dallas. I have very little confidence that any team is going to rise up and challenge Texas and OU any time soon. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Not even God's team (Baylor...not the cowboys)? ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Texas Press Conferencewell, I guess if the Big 12 is not gonna showcase themselves with a champ game in December, thats a small opportunity for CUSA to gain a bit more attention regionally. Or the MWC if they expand might pickup a better tv spot for a champ game. The MWC could add Houston and SMU and hold a champ game that alternates between Dallas and Denver. Jerryworld/Cotton Bowl and Mile High? Pretty ambitous i know to try to fill those stadiums, but TCU would have a decent crowd at least and you would think those venues would enhance the perception of the MWC.
Re: Texas Press ConferenceHey there's still the Thanksgiving game with the Aggies and the Whorns. Championship stuff there!
I really don't see the MWC becoming an autobid conference if Utah leaves. Then, why would we want to be in that conference vs. CUSA? Worse travel, some weaker and some tougher opponents, lousier bowl opportunities, poorer TV contract. I'd rather stay in CUSA, get better and run the table one year. Next year, for example our CUSA schedule includes USM, UCF, and Memphis (OOD). Rather than having to play TCU, Boise, BYU (at altitude), AFA (at altitude), Wyoming (at altitude) to win the conference. UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Texas Press ConferenceIf I understand correctly, after all this dancing about, Nebraska is leaving immediately (Big 10 to pay Nebraska's penalty to the Big 12) and Colorado will leave beginning in 2012. This would mean that each team would have to play 10 conference games and only have 2 OOC games each this year and next. Can someone confirm my understanding...or correct as necessary?

Re: Texas Press ConferenceActually in 2012 its going to be 9 games a piece (ten teams means 9 games since you don't play yourself). Nebraska doesn't leave until 2011.

Re: Texas Press ConferenceStallion,
What does no expansion indicate? Never or for a period of time?
Re: Texas Press Conference
Yes, I understand 10 teams, 9 games. You are correct in that Nebraska joins B10 in 2011, but Colorado is scheduled to join P10 in 2012, so that leaves at least one season with 11 teams, 10 games. Thus, only 2 OOC games each that year (2011). SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. Re: Texas Press ConferenceThe Big Televen do not play a game vs. every opponent. I imagine they would still need to work that out.

Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Texas Press Conference
PAC-10 went years with each team playign 8 conference games in a 10 team league. Big-10(11) doesn't play 10 conference games. Most of these teams have non-conference schedules booked for years. There may be 8 conference games per season for the foreseeable future. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
