Agreed. It's going to be a great atmopshere despite arguably being the toughest opponent on our schedule.
Despite? I think you maybe you should have used the term "due to" rather than "despite."

I meant even if things don't go as well as we hope they do. I don't expect to see any screen pass pick-sixes, but it's going to be a tough game nonetheless.

This is somewhat off topic but I was wondering where Army and Navy fit into all this? I would think adding those two into a conference would really help the "tv" set aspect of things. Put those two with TCU, SMU, BYU, Air Force, Houston, Tulsa, Southern Miss, Boise, UTEP, and East Carolina. Don't ask me about the logistics of travel and all that stuff. I will leave that up to someone else.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Thad, you know that feeling that Baylor and Kansas are beginning to feel (used)? That's how we felt in the late 70's when SMU began to try to beat those people in Austin. Work that feeling into your special, I think a whole lot of people would begin to understand.

Sorry to post and run. But I am under an NDA so a lot of what I know/have heard I am legally obliged not to disclose.
I think this much is fair game to report. What I am hearing is that conference realignment is calming down right now. That being said we have two weeks until July when the door will close on the shifts until next summer.
So based on my knowledge, I can give you the assumptions that I have made and may or may not have had confirmed --
We have another good season and look for shifts next summer. I wish it were this summer and it could still be, but right now the Big XII staying together and standing pat is the best news for us. (Not that I am saying us to Big XII... just that we are not seeing the seismic shifts to 16 this summer which would leave us in the cold, most likely... though I can say we are more attractive than some of the Big XII teams - according to national media... I will say that last summer the insider info. I got did point to this kind of shift, with the most interesting news that back then we were working with a school with a methodist affiliation in Chicago - you know the one - to try and get a Big Televen invite. That's obviously not happening, but don't get the idea that Orsini/Turner/Jones are resting on their laurels.)
Also/lastly I won't be able to be specific about it but in July I am set to interview several folks very close to this issue. If I can get any nuggets that I feel I am allowed to share immediately I will, otherwise I'll have to wait until December (when the film airs) to share more.

You are such a tease Thaddeus. Go Mustangs!
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I know. I hate to do it to. I'm sitting here mad at myself. I have always hated coming on this board and not getting any *real* information. I'll just say again, don't panic. And still, things are fluid... I won't be surprised if something happens in the next two weeks. I just don't think it will involve us THIS summer. I hope I am wrong, but I do know from all sources we are really doing our job correctly at this point.

Thanks for the update. Can't wait to see the movie. Getting excited every time I see a 30 for 30 promo. The only other thing I have to say is: ThadFilms wrote:to try and get a Big Televen invite.

thanks for the limited info Thad. Your movie will only serve to further highlight the history of SMU Mustangs and really remind people nationally about us. Tradition is a big deal in college football and even though we have been through some rough years we are luck to have our fair share.

This point should not be overlooked. Think about how it felt to be SMU in the late 70's. We were a national football powerhouse for many years climaxing in Doak's exit to usher in the 1950's. Then our twenty five plus years of mediocrity contrasted sharply with UT dominance and arrogance. We had had enough when Ron Meyer showed up flashing $100 bills and luring the bluest of the blue chips to the Hilltop.

Thx for the update Thad. Sounds great & it's encouraging for sure!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
