Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or Houstonouch again. Who is the secret handshake with? Notre Dame?
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonWhile I'm sure he has never been wrong before, this is just Carlton's opinion.
I think the MWC press conference adds more credibility to my favorite reporter from the great town of Las Vegas -- Todd Jacobs. We all know Todd is claiming the Big 12 is courting SMU and Houston. The fact that the MWC has decided to hold-off on expansion at this time adds credibility to Todd's reporting.

Wait-Wait-Wait, so you really believe the Big 12 is courting SMU and Houston? ![]()
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonThe day the Big 12 adds another Texas team is the day after Texas and A&M leave the conference.
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonThere is ZERO reason for the Big-12 to add SMU, TCU, or Houston.
Can someone give me ONE reason why they might? "I think Couchem is right."

Why, haven't you heard? UT, A&M and Tech are big on tradition and keeping games close for mommies to drive to them, etc. You know, all the stuff they said this week about why they kept the Mack 10 together.
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonYou're dead on Callenstang.
I wouldn't either unless I was going to throw them - whoever they could be - in the north division. Better to add outside of Texas. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or Houston
Some thoughts: - Texas & OU want $$$, national exposure, and easy path to national championship game - They could have gone to the SEC but passed -- too much competition -- too hard to get to national championship game. - They got the TV money they wanted and have an easier path to national championship w/out NU - Adding two easy wins/teams would enable big 12 championship game which is important for national exposure -- UT and OU expecting to benefit from this exposure 99.9% of the time. - Not sure how much money is generated via championship game, but assume you could do it so the two new teams take a portion and everyone else stays revenue neutral or there is some additional revenue payout (most likely whoever plays in it -- UT /OU)
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or Houston
SMU TCU Houston (STH) would take more money than they would generate for the conference. It would cost UT
It is already easy for them without STH.
A championship game would just be a chance for UT/OU to wreck each other's records playing each other again. Playing it can hurt them, but it can't help them.
Not enough to mess up their easy path to NC. If there were more good teams it would be one thing, but as it is now, it's a two team league. Really, a one team league. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonIf Big XII (X) choose to add non-Texas schools in the future, who would they look at? BYU, AFA, CSU? They would love the Hogs, but that will not happen. If Tulane was a monster, that might add access to Lousiana market.
As for MWC, if and when they expand, do they look west, Fresno or Nevada, or provide the Frogs a regional base with Houston,Tulsa and/or SMU? Pony Up
Re: Carlton says the Big 12 will not add SMU,TCU or HoustonTexas does not want a big 12 championship game, and if Texas does not want it, there won't be one.
