Greatest post-DP Mustang DT/NG

Postby Webmaster » Fri Jun 18, 2010 9:00 am

BUS's comment on the Recruiting board about his size as a freshman compared to Rishaad Wimbley got me thinking about the comparably great size of our current recruits compared to the some of the undersized DLs that came to SMU post Death Penalty and ended up doing pretty well.

So my question for the Pony Nation is: Who are the best DTs/NGs post-Death Penalty and what size where they when they made it to the Hilltop?

I think Allen Adami was something like 215 of 225, and he ended up being a beast. Can somebody save me the trouble of looking it up in the old Recruiting Roundups?

Who were some of the other greats?

I recall him tackling the QB and FB at the same time more than once against the Rice wishbone.

Since I have been paying attention to SMU football, it was Haywood. Give Justin Willis and E. Sanders all the credit in the world for that 2006 season, but the defense was what set the 2006 6 win season apart from the 1 win season in 2007. And it was the 3 seniors on the defensive line that made that 2006 defensive what it was.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Adami was/is a freak being so small and very strong.

NG's in a 3-4 system HAVE to be big. The o-line has to use two people to move the NG. If it only take one... that leaves too many peoiple to get to the LB's.

I like the two guys we have found can get there.
