Stallion is probably on to something.
With the penalty money from CU and NU, A$M buys out their current coach's contract. Then next realignment period, A$M skips to the SEC with a new, college coach and all paid for with Big XII-2 money.

Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionAnd then they get their asses kicked over there as well.
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionread somewhere that CU kept Hawkins because they couldnt afford the $3M buyout. And now they have to come up with $15M. Funny stuff
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decision
I'm no Aggie fan, but they kicked UT's precious [deleted] as recently as '07, and they're 2-2 against Texas over the last four years.
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionThe Aggies move was dumb. If they really wanted to shed the image of being led around on a leash by Texas, they had the opportunity and they blew it.
At the very least, it looks like they had leverage that they did not make full use of. I think cussing the AD via e-mail is stupid and typical of the cult mentality at A&M, but there is good reason for the backlash. I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionBut will they still fall for the whistle trick?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionThad,
I live here in College Station...moved here in '06 from Florida. You have to WANT to live here. Never would have chosen this location in Texas, but am pastoring a church full of Aggies, and enjoying the real enchiladas immensely. I have gotten used to scorpions, feral hogs, humid evenings and mornings, and the maroon mind-set, and good food in the area...still wouldn't be my choice over Dallas or Lemon Bay, but home is here for now. A&M used to be "the place the best athletes in Texas went, and then disappeared" back in the '70s. They are no longer getting the best, and now have to fight HARD to get a look from kids here in Navasota (17 miles away). Again, unless you WANT to be here, there are not ( as you pointed out) the aesthetic niceties to lure you...winning football has not been the ticket recently, the campus has the look of '50s Soviet architecture, and with the exception of a limited Northgate nightlife, students/residents choose the limits to live here rather than pine over Austin or Dallas A&M has a 16M athletic standing deficit. The immediate reason that they agreed to return to the Big 12 was the promise of funds that could be directly applied to that debt. Many felt that the SEC would have been a better long-term fit for A&M, but the tyranny of the urgent, and some old Ags that were [deleted] and moaning about the threat of the loss of the UT game all moved the Aggies to return. I am amused that they were able to make Texas blink...and think they played their cards well enough to get a more equal financial foot with Texas in the new payout structure of the Mack 10. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Many Aggies PO'd about decisionall these aggies crying....WIN YOU DEGENERATES! STOP MAKING EXCUSES YOU LAME [deleted] LOSERS!
