SMU receives preseason top-25 votesFrom SMUMustangs.com:
Media Takes Note Of Mustangs SMU Receives Votes In FSN Preseason Top 25 June 23, 2010 DALLAS (SMU) - With the start of the 2010 season a little over two months away, the SMU football team is gaining the attention of numerous news outlets. As 2010 preseason magazines and website previews begin to surface, the 2009 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Champion and Conference USA Western Division Co-Champion Mustangs are being mentioned prominently. SMU Mustangs Kelvin Beachum, Jr., and Aldrick Robinson have been named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football's 2010 All-Texas College first-team offense, according to the publication's 41st-annual edition, which hit the newsstands last week. Texas Football also included its FSN Preseason Top 25, with SMU among 12 teams just outside the Top 25, but receiving votes. The SMU team also received a vote in the final USA TODAY Top-25 Coaches Poll of 2009. SMU, which finished the season at 8-5, entered the list following its 45-10 win over Nevada in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. The Mustangs had entered the Bowl Season as the biggest underdog in any Bowl game yet finished with the largest margin of victory in all Bowls played. The Kickoff 2010 College Football Preview writes of SMU, "June Jones has SMU on the fast track to becoming a C-USA power... The main goal is to win C-USA and that's certainly within the realm of possibilities now... This is a team that nobody is going to want to face because they're capable of beating anyone on their schedule." Tickets for the upcoming season are going fast. For more information, contact the SMU Ticket Sales Office at (214) SMU-GAME (768-4263). PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votesapparently whoever voted for us dont know about the grade issues, along with the players who graduated.... preseason means nothing though, but i guess its nice though.
WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votesYou do remember that the past several years our thoughts have been on where we would land on the Bottom 10 list. This is definitely an improvement preseason or not.

You have got to love BUS! Pony Up!
Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votesI love this. It's been way too long since we opened a season with any kind of national attention like this.
Is it too early for this? Yeah, maybe — maybe a year early. But just seeing us get this kind of faith from the media is outstanding. Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

Currently, they are projecting the Mustangs to beat Minnesota in the 1st ever Dallas Football Classic, to be played at the Cotton Bowl. Mustang from India
Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votesHey it's recognition, in a positive way. Much better than the bottom 10 as Mrydel mentions...
TCU in the Top 5 looks ominous...September 24 will be a big night on the ole SMU campus.
Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votes
TCU being ranked in Top 5 is great for SMU. If they can be ranked that high, there is absolutely no reason why SMU can't do better. Looking forward to Sept 24.
Re: SMU receives preseason top-25 votesAfter losing Sanders, Kennemer, McCann, Enright, Dennis, McNeal, etc., I think we take a slight step back in wins and losses this year. The overall talent is better, I think (I hope — never know with the newcomers), but we'll have fewer seniors in key roles. Yes, we have guys like Sterling Moore, Youri Yenga, Pete Fleps, Matt Szymanski, etc., but it kind of looks like an already-young team is getting even younger while Coach Jones re-shapes the roster with his players.... With that said, I love the fact that we're getting national pub! Hope they're right and I'm wrong.
