IntroductionHey everybody,
I appreciate the support some of you have been giving me the last couple of days. But I feel like I screwed up by not introducing myself first. My name is Max Aiken and I am the SMU mustangs examiner. I have been writing articles for SMU for the past couple of weeks and was trying to expand my "fan" base and gain some exposure by posting my articles on SMU forums. My intention was to get my name out there to you guys, NOT to make some cash from hits. Examiner is a great site for writers but they pay like 1/2 a cent per view. Haha so I make nothing doing this really. I love writing about sports, its a hobby of mine. I have been going to SMU games ever since I was a kid, so I am a mustangs fan. I just graduated from Purdue University and am home now getting my MBA. My main goal is to represent SMU the best I can. Also, I hope to someday get into sports media. I didn't mean to [deleted] anybody off or cause a problem here. I have been asked not to post links to my page which is completely understandable, but I would like to be a part of your discussions. I'll receieve credentials in the fall so I will be attending practices and games, and I'd love to try and bring some inside info to the message boards. I know some of you wont agree with the some of my stuff, which is fine and I welcome suggestions. Sorry for the long post. I hope this helps clear some things up.

Re: Introduction
Perhaps you should start a blog about that. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: IntroductionWelcome. I will definitely check you out at the Examiner. Hopefully we'll meet on the BLVD. Looking forward to hearing from you more. Now back to the big game.

doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: IntroductionThx for the coverage, maiken71. We need all the exposure we can get!!!
I have read your articles & enjoy them. As for the links, who cares?! Bring 'em on! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Introduction
Thanks for the Compliment. I was asked by ponyfans not to post links. They said they'd let me get back on here as long as I didn't include my links. So I'll respect their rules.
Re: IntroductionWelcome, the more the merrier.
Dear Mods, If I find an article interesting, am I allowed to post it? Just like people post links to smu rivals, scout, and DMN articles. Like how whats his face post links to his cartoons and the guy who posts the cusa links. Or like how 94 posts links to that "male" order bride website? Not sure I understand why the rules change, its like dealing with my wife......
Re: IntroductionHey Max, Great Job with the new site. I get the feed on my yahoo, and can recommend it, as well as ponyfans and rivals. I agree, the more exposure the better, and would like to see links to it on ponyfans. From what I've seen so far, you have good info, and can actually write. I hope to see more content, as you gain fans and can dedicate more time to it. Keep it up!
Re: IntroductionThank you squire I really appreciate it
Re: Introduction
Probably had to do with the fact that he was making a profit (albeit not a large one apparently) off the links when people click through. Derail the Frogs!
Re: IntroductionSo am I allowed to post a link to his work if I find it interesting.....just like I do the DMN? And should the guy who post the cusa links not be allowed to post his link...or the cartoon guy to his work? Just seems odd that others can and he can't. Dooby was allowed to do it when he had a blog. If this was going to take money away from p-fans, then I understand, but it is not. The fact that it actually drives up traffic on P-fans is what I don't understand. Each one of his articles started good conversations on P-fans, which contributed to more posts on p-fans and more hits which I assume boost traffic and maybe helps ad sales here on p-fans. Heaven forbid we have more smu talk on the board. I'm fine with whatever the mods want to do in the end, it is their board, but I am confused while some people have different rules than others. Maybe it is a race thing. <sarcasm>
Re: IntroductionI would think articles from DMN, ESPN, etc., can still be posted, since they're long-standing media outlets.
Just a guess.
Re: Introduction
Again, I would guess that as long as you are not profiting from it, it would be fine. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Introduction
I love my name being mentioned in serious discussions. And you are a smartass, yet funny smartass
