Re: Matt Syzmankski / Chris BoniolThat's really cool — especially that Szymanski is listed as an NFL prospect.
Does anyone know the difference in the rules? Last year Dez Bryant has lunch with Deion Sanders and lies about it, but gets suspended for the rest of the year (granted, the suspension I guess was for the lie more than the lunch, but it was somehow in the equation, right?) But there are college players all over the country who work and work out with pros and former pros. Anyone know the difference in the eyes of the NCAA?
Re: Matt Syzmankski / Chris BoniolI do not pretend to know in this instance, but my guess would be that it is the difference in a college athlete paying for instruction at a camp versus an outside influence buying a lunch for a college athlete.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Matt Syzmankski / Chris BoniolI remember the biggest issue was simply he lied to the NCAA about the meeting(s) with Deon.
Re: Matt Syzmankski / Chris Boniol
Bryant got suspended for lying about it. There was no illegal contact with Sanders. Sanders admitted he had him over for lunch, Bryant said he didn't. It came out that he did, and he thought it might have been illegal so he lied about it. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Matt Syzmankski / Chris BoniolI still don't understand that. The NCAA is so uptight about so many things, and they're somehow OK with players going to Sanders' house (or any other pro athlete) for lunch? They don't think Sanders paid for his gas? Or his meal? I'm not saying that's wrong, but I would think the NCAA would view that as something that is simply too hard to police.
