Air Force and BYU both bring national followings, as well as their local television markets.

With the guarantee of instability in the Big 12 that would lead any team foolish enough to leave the SEC begging to return in a decade or less.

Banzai! You nailed it Samurai!!

That would be Tulane all over again - but in their case, they never got back in.

Can you imagine how they've regretted that move?!

some fans will choose to be blindly optimistic, others blindly pessimistic. The reality though is we are blowing in the wind right now and it could go either way regardless of anything that anyone is hearing because SMU waited far too long to get in the game and compete. If we had been taking care of business like we should have the past 10 years, the MWC would be begging us to join right now. We should be Boise right now instead of sitting here hoping the wind blows in the right direction and we land safely when the s*** hits the fan. SMU has no one to blame but itself if we get left behind. Not sure we can ever do enough to "earn" our way to the Big12, but the MWC should have been in our reach without needing a break. Could Ford Stadium host a World Cup group in the fall of 2018? Lets hope like hell it never comes to that. Hell yes, I'm scared of the downside scenario. I hope every leader at SMU is scared of the downside and acts accordingly.

It boils down to Tech desperately wanting to solidify its BCS future in the PAC, Texas desperately and intelligently refusing to allow SEC to get foothold in Texas and A&M desperately wanting to be loved by someone/anyone-ie the SEC. So who blinks first? This conference may have more stability merely for the fact that nobody will be able to satisfy all these competing needs. Tech ain't getting a bid from the Big 10 or SEC and maybe lucky to go to the PAC in the future. Texas will go anywhere it wants but has the power to decide who goes with it. A&M with its inferiority complex will probably refuse to follow Texas to the PAC pouting about their two past hot dates with the SEC. So unless the Big 10 breaks the stalemate by taking Missouri or Kansas, the Big 12 may be stuck together for awhile. I'd bet A&M cheats first before the Divorce is final. SEC probably has the power to destroy the Big 12 if it wants to.

I think the Big XII can survive one team leaving as long as it isn't UT or OU. A&M doesn't drive their numbers that much. Missouri does cost you the St. Louis market, but again, not a back-breaker. They still would have 9 and could run a full 8 game schedule. TT isn't going anywhere. They are joined at the hip with UT until UT decides that they've tired of this crew member and leave them in the dust. KU might get interest from the BE, but again, not sure they'd want to go unless the handwriting was on the wall. KSU, ISU, Baylor, and OSU are hangers on and will do anything that UT and OU want them to do to preserve the conference and their relevance. Now if the SEC were to raid and take A&M and OU, then man the life boats.

What would be interesting is if SMU-TCU (perhaps Rice or Houston) could beat TU at their own game - out-fox them - if you will. SMU eventually becomes a powerhouse on the field like the Frogs & start getting a larger portion of the DFW/Northeast/North Central Texas TV sets. Let's say, both are top ten teams in the next five years? Well, you know, anything can happen! No matter what, there is a big "unknown" out there because no one through all this bcs-BS $%%$# can tell the future.

It's bizarre how the networks control college football!

it was ABC/ESPN who swooped in and saved the now BEVO 10

there is NO WAY we get more viewership than UT, TTU, and OU in the DFW area.

there is significant financial motivation on both sides to make sure that the BEVO 10 gets all the exposure if possible.

The question is whether or not that offer to A&M is a standing one. It is believed to be, and therefore I have a hard time believing in the longrun A&M doesn't end up in the SEC.
Frankly, and I've said this before, Texas was exposed in this round and has a problem coming their way in the long run.

Texas will be in the Big 12 long enough to establish its network, and then will most likely go independent. Texas is an evil giant, I will not argue that, but do not allow your hatred to blind you. Whatever Texas wants to happen, will happen. A sad reality, but reality nonetheless.

Let me be clear on this: The WORST thing to happen to SMU in conference realingment would be an SEC school in Texas. Indeed, it would be the worst thing since the demise of the SWC, if not the death penalty/Ken Pye.

Stallion is right.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
