Don't think this has been posted.

Daktronics has been hired to design, manufacture and install a new High Definition-15 technology that includes a new show control system, a complete HD front-end video production system and a custom sound system.

As part of the agreement, the email of the Daktronic's salesman will be provided to all PonyFans to provide direct feedback throughout the season.

I am going to reserve real judgement until I see the actual finished product, but I will say i am not crazy about the positioning/size/ect of the score and clock on the image of what may be our new "scoreboard". I may be old fashioned but I don't want my brain to have to "look for" where the score and clock are. If you look at the North Texas scoreboard... yeah it's nothing fancy....but it is "balanced" and your eyes flow naturally to the score and clock. I am sure the video screen will be awesome on our new "scoreboard"...maybe thats what they need to call it...a video replay board instead of a "scoreboard". It looks like 99% of the focus is on the video screen and then it's like "oh gosh where should we throw in the clock and score displays?". Of course maybe the plan is to have the clock and score displayed in a balanced way on the video screen too....who knows?....I guess we'll see.

yeah that was the one where it was hard to read the score and clock at the OU/tx game.
i'm ok with these huge video screens for allowing nice huge ads to make money, Kiss Cams,
and show replays....but don't forget how important the score and clock displays are.

What are you talking about? As indicated in RGV's photo, the score and clock are on a separate board in the Cotton Bowl, located on the face of the upper deck.

The score, clock, and down info are clearly displayed along bottom of the SMU video board.

I'm not sure if it's "balanced". There may be a correlation between the "balance" and how long you were on the blvd pregame.

why do you always have to be such a condescending a-hole CalallenStang? does disagreeing with your line of thinking just have to equate to "stupid" or are you capable of accepting that after careful study someone may arrive at a different conclusion than yours? Of course the score and clock are on a separate board at the Cotton Bowl and they are small and they are hard to see from parts of the stadium. It's not even that easy to read the stuff at the bottom of the video board on the pic RGV supplied. BTW... Do you know of plans of having them separate at SMU? If so please elaborate. The point being lets not have so much "wow factor" we forget to make the score and time clock clear, large, and visible. but if some of you guys like the way it is displayed...fine...I don't.

Where was I being condescending? I simply asked what you were talking about, since you said that the Cotton Bowl video board "was the one where it was hard to read the score/clock." I made the observation that the Cotton Bowl video board doesn't contain the score or time information, so you could not possibly have meant that board. Sorry if I came off the wrong way, but I understand now from your latest post what you are saying.

As to the second part, no, I do not know of any specific plan to make them separate, though I hope that they do have a separate scoreboard.

I'm glad we are getting a new one. I can barely see the replays on that thing. Its 2010.

If it really is going to be Cotton Bowl sized, the electric bill we're going to receive turning that thing on alone shows our commitment (real, not Copeland's "THE COMMITMENT") to football.

Exciting times at SMU!
