I heard through the grapevine that Margus Hunt...

Postby PerunaPunch » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:44 am

recently tipped the scales at 290!

Which is pretty frightening... If you're a sand aggie.

Cow tipping is more fun to watch than scale tipping.

MH will be a top 10 draft pick. He will learn how to play this year.
Then start getting better & better, until he graduates and picks up his $10,000,000 bonus check.

But, out house tipping is more fun than cow tipping. Unless, you are in the out house.

How many tackles, TFL and sacks did Hunt have last year? (Note: Serious question)

Just wondering if he had any impact aside from the blocked kicks (which were critical). I know this was his first year playing football and I don't believe he did anything noteworthy in the TCU game.

you know, good point. TCU should focus their attention somewhere other than Margus. In fact, leave him uncovered.

I could be mistaken, but since a blocked kick is noteworthy...didnt he have one against TCU?

As for other things..I don't have stats but I recall a sack in the bowl game and a rejection of about 20 yards of Tulsa's last pass attempt of the game

Great question...he had 2 sacks in one half against Houston. Production is obviously important and most here think he'll figure polish his game up and really produce and very soon. Watch some film on him and you'll see that he's VERY quick, instinctive and powerful. Some plays he'd just bull rush tackles right into the qb and on the next play, he'll use finessse and beat his easily. Unfortunately, his production wasn't incredibly high largely because he was lost most of the times. One time I watched as he beat his man and stood right next to the qb because he thought the qb had handed the ball off when he hadn't...most people here think he's figure these missteps out soon. He's definitely not your typical track athlete who can't do anything but go in a straight line, a la Alexander Wright. i've also heard that, at 6'8", 275 last year, he ran a 4.7 and did a pro shuttle as fast as Emmanuel Sanders - second part is very hard to believe.

The guy never saw a football field before last year. Think how good he'll be when he figures all this out? I'm thinking Michael Carter, good.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I was just curious as to his stats...I know it was year 1 for the guy and he is a large man. Obviously he got a lot of press for blocking kicks - I just never saw any final numbers for him at DE. It will be interesting to see how the guy develops. (I don't remember the kick block against us but I trust your memory better than mine.)

So while he has a world of potential, he's still in the early learning stages, which makes sense considering how long he has been playing football.

Given that I watched him over the summer and graded him as a project with no expectation that he would contribute in the near term and also that he was a part-time player as a reserve passing down specialist defensive end redshirt freshman and that he saw his playing time increase over the season from nothing, I have to say those numbers are pretty good, regardless of the fact he never played the game before.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
