If we are close to turning the corner, you have to schedule them and play them....and eventually beat them.
Other wise when we do have all the pieces put together but only have Texas State and UNT on our schedule we will not get any top 25 consideration and won't be able to be a BCS buster. I know the pieces aren't there for this year, but you schedule many years out. Hopefully we are close.

I believe non-conference schedule too tough right now. Ease up on it a little and let's build a few winning seasons and bowl appearances first. I would rather have a win against a Sam Houston St. for the blind than a loss to Tech. Again, no need to play Navy every year - runs a wishbone and chop blocks - no benefit to playing them.

We have to ramp up the schedule BEFORE we become competitive or we'll have the same difficulty scheduling quality opponents that Boise State and TCU have. No one wants to schedule them because they're very tough opponents and if you beat them, people say you should have since they're mid-majors. Great that we have a tough schedule already set up.

I would like to have one more easy year but there's tremendous upside to performing well against Tech versus limited downside since we're still rebuilding...

You get better by playing good teams...not by playing easy teams.

JJ said playing Tech in Week One is the best time to play them.

Of course the problem is it is also the best time for them to be playing us. Timing, conditioning, and all of the opening day unknowns apply to both sides. If we have an edge in any area is is that they have a new coach, but he is not one that is an unknown commodity. His pedigree is pretty good.

I would think it would depend on how much of Tech's playbook has been changed by having a new coach. If it is significantly different, then they will be working out the kinks in the game with us whereas we will be using our same playbook with our o-line and quarterback pretty much in sync. It maybe wouldn't be a big advantage for us, but it would be an advantage all the same. The game should, if nothing else, give us an idea how far we have progressed if at all.

I doubt Tech changes much of anything this year-except maybe run Baron Batch a helluva a lot more since he was outstanding late in the 2009 season. Turbeville promised Tech fans the Air Raid will continue. Then he will transition into a more conservative offense as time goes on.
