Texas Tech game big for recruiting

Postby maiken71 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:35 pm

Even with the Tuberville era beginning in Lubbock, Tech's identity is still the pass. I think the opener is a great opportunity for SMU to lure recruits away with a similar offensive product.

I wrote an article about this on my examiner page.

Does anyone else agree? Or is that too ambitious?

Winning would be great for recruiting, but that would be because we could say we beat a Big 12 team. The Red Raiders are starting a new coaching era, but they're still bigger and stronger and faster (and playing at home), so they are still going to be heavily favored.

But Coach Jones and his staff are getting recruits because of the program they're building here and the way they present themselves and the team and SMU to recruits. So no, this game is not that huge from a recruiting standpoint.

I wrote an article about that one time...

I don't think the offensive products are too similar...i think tech will be much more balanced this year with Tubberville and we will most likely rely a little more on the pass with the absence of shawnbrey.

Because the game is televised it would, in my opinion, be a great plus for recruiting. The downside is if we get our hat handed to us, I think the negative repercussions could cause damage.

So if we win it is good for recruiting... and if we lose it's bad?

Yes, but because of TV the spread IMO is greater

hmm..silly thread. if we do well in conference and win a bowl game, that would bode well for recruiting.
