New NCAA Task Force

Brand appointed a Task force on Recruiting headed by David Berst. It is supposed to come up with recommendations by summer so that next year's recruiting season is less embarrassing. It doesn't seem to have any Mid-Major Conference schools represented on the Panel. UT, Vanderbilt, Maryland, had reps on it. Think they'll put in a specific stripper rule. Or if you're a convicted felon, you can't be taken to a place where you might commit more felonies. The fact is that the rules are already there, but after enough wrist slaps, the NCAA is just plain toothless. The networks and the conferences call the shots. As long as that's the case the CU's of the world will continue to do what they've always done.

I know SMU was guilty for their past improprieties, but David Berst, who was very active in the investigation is a real butt. He will make sure someone pays for what is going on. His main job will be to figure out who they can punish without there being much effect on the big boys.
