Is the SAT and ACT score more of a reflectin on the education the school provides or the kids smarts?

Certainly there are scenarios..... but where there is smoke (athletic department shills attacking Turner) there is fire, and there are two huge smoke plumes right now. Plus, shouldn't this issue be sorted out before the last minute?

I corrected Recruit B to 3.0 GPA and 620 SAT

Any AP courses? Is this on a 4 or 5 point scale?

That is the most disturbing issue and will be used against SMU in the future to any and all recruits considering committing to SMU! :(

well, if either recruit A, B, X, or Y had
a) qualified under NCAA guidelines, and I had previously publicly stated that
b) if a recruit qualified under NCAA guidelines, he could play at SMU,

I'd admit him/them all day long, lest I be called out for having made a representation that was false.

I seriously doubt many recruits are enrolled in AP courses.

GPA would be based upon 16 Core NCAA required courses

Based on the minimum NCAA standards, I would fear both potential recruits would struggle at SMU. Thus, are there any criteria for exceptions when it comes to potential students such as Stallion proposed?

At many institutions, admission isn't an issue. For us it is. Thus, are there any standards for exceptions where one can identify those kids with the potential to succeed academically even though their high school record is marginal?

a learning disability might be a pretty common exception these days. In fact, the SAT/ACT can be taken with accomodations to the learning impaired.

So a DSM-IV Axis I diagnosis for a learning disorder may be one criteria. Any others?

well there is a different perfect example on Rivals right now-apparently SMU's first non-qualifier admitted to the university since Resurrection.
