I left at half time, it is worse than the score indicates. There were several cars leaving the parking lot, lots of head shaking.

For those listening to the game, what happened? How can SMU be down by 31 at the half at home? :?

Is 1190 broadcasting over the Internet? I found their web page, but not a link to the audio stream. Thanks.

I just logged on to check the score and see us getting shelled 75-43. Talk about a team trying to run off it's few remaining fans! Will be interested in hearing from those who attended...WHAT THE F### HAPPENED? I thought the last couple of outings showed these guys hadn't quit, but this score clearly suggests otherwise. No way you will ever convince me there is this great a talent gap between these two teams. One has heart, the other wants this season to be over with...and I gather they want to play next year for a new coach. That's all I can figure from a fiasco like this.

Well, we sure fooled the guys in Vegas. SMU was actually favored by 1 tonight. Is 39 pts the worst we've ever been beaten at Moody??? Wonder if we can top that with UTEP and Rice still to visit? WOW!!!

CP, you are right on point. This team is absolutely dead in the water. They have completely quit and will not play for Dement any more. T. Tech, Wake, and Purdue showed us early on what we were capable of.

We may see some little spark out of them when the WAC tournament starts, but I don't think it will be enough to win a first round game against anybody.

The worst part of this whole thing is that apparently Copeland will be the one hiring the new basketball coach.

I too thought we had come to the point where we were at least competing again. Gracious goodness. As the cliche goes, it would almost be funny if it weren't so profoundly sad. I've defended Dement in the past, but now I don't give a hydro-electric dam who the coach is next year, as long as it's not him. This has got to be one of the great all-time collapses in college sports history. Maybe that's overstating things, but I can't think of another one that compares.

Second worst defeat in Moody according to the guys on the radio when I was driving back from it. Worst was against Texas in 95. Boise St. set the Moody record of 15 3 point shots. I think it was 15 of 24 tries. One of the radio guys said 12 of the 15 were wide open shots, and thats what it looked like to me.

The promotion tonight was "Moody Madness". Wear something crazy, and get in free. They should've been paying people to watch. It was Moody Madness allright. Lots of people were mad.

The biggest evidence of Madness in Moody was when the Wolfman fan got out there and went through his contortions/dance routine.

And shortly thereafter, his buddy (in the blue sweatshirt) yelled -- during one of many silent moments -- "Mike Dement, you're my hero!" And I think Coach Dement heard it, because he whipped his head around and looked that way, away from the ball. Then again, maybe he just didn't want to watch.

I thought Chris Reay busted his tail when he was in there, and Rack actually showed some fire briefly: for the first time that I've ever noticed, he actually tried to muscle a couple of guys around in the low post when he was matched up against a smaller player. We need a whole lot more of that out of him.

Boise Game

Postby MustangSally » Fri Feb 27, 2004 1:17 am

I think when he yelled 'Mike Dement, you're my hero!' he was talking to Jr., who had just entered the game.

Agree with others Chris Reay was a hustler tonight. And even though he wasnt spot on tonight, several times I could tell BHop was really frustrated and he would yell stuff like 'Come on guys, jeez...' etc.

Too many bad passes, easy rebounds left untouched, etc. I could tell from the first 5 minutes of the game that unless we changed something, we were dead in the water.
