I sure hope the fire Turner group is certain that Jones and Orsini will be the entire search committee for a new President. Be careful what you wish for. There could very well be a piece of Pye lurking in the background.

Can Turner be fired or is it an extremely rare to fire a College President over this kind of issue? And if so...who can fire him?
No but a coach can quit.

Thanks, RGT!
I saw that. I thought it was geared toward mexicans - not that many spaniards in this area.

Two marginal kids can't get in (and not marginal kids can't get in as well) and all of a sudden the world has come to an end.
We got kids excited about this season. We have kids that have learn how to win. We have a proven coach that has turned teams around and kept them at the top. And we are whining about tow kids that couldn't get in DESPITE being athletes?
Turner goes nowhere unless he wants to leave. We have a great potential for really remarkable year starting in less than 2 months. I am getting excited about football. It is an exciting time to be an SMU fan.
Marginal? Jackson is incredibly talented but lacked good coaching in high-school, Klemm would turn him into a beast! you don't run across 6'7" 299lb OT's with frames like his everyday also take a look at the depth at the tackle position god forbid if beach goes down were toast, the run & shoot offense isn't effective if the edges are not locked down.

Wow, okay that was fairly overtly racist.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Academically marginal.
Pains me to admit this but couch 'em has correctly interpreted the meaning of 'marginal' in my thread.

This thread is a sad commentary. Turner does not deserve this and it makes Ponyfans sound like the worst of BC$ boosters at the state schools. Come on, gang, we are better than this.

NO he is NOT getting fired. Forget it. This ain't the same school run by Clements, Cox and Jock and J. R. Ewing-take a good look at the members of the Board of Trustees. You guys have lost perspective on this issue based on your deep love and hero worship of St. June. The Board will give Turner unqualified support. This ain't 1989, 1995, 2000 or 2005. Welcome to the debate about 20 years too late. The actual practical effect of the current limitations in athletic admission is not in any way comparable to our prior problems. The entire situation may suck and have been terribly mishandled but its not the end of the world and we can compete with all teams currently on our schedule. In fact, under June Jones SMU will continue to take more marginal academic questionmarks than just about any team on our schedule.
1. Spot-on analysis 2. Love the Jock and J.R. Ewing shout-outs.

Exactly JT! Thats what I am very worried about. My sources tell me June before he was hired was promised he could recruit on an even field. If crap like this continues...June will feel he was misled and/or lied to. Do we really want to start over in 2011? I don't! Let June be June!
