Point guard London Giles will transfer out of Nevada prior to next season, Wolf Pack men’s basketball head coach confirmed to The Nevada Sagebrush on Tuesday afternoon.
“Yes, he is transferring,†Carter said in a message to The Sagebrush. “He has not indicated to me where he is transferring to.â€
In his two-year career at Nevada, Giles played in 46 games (zero starts) and averaged 5.5 minutes per game. Giles never saw much action on the court because he played behind star guard Armon Johnson, who earlier declared for the NBA Draft.
Giles’ tenure with the Wolf Pack got off to a rocky start, even before he suited up for the team. Prior to his freshman year, he, along with former Nevada basketball players Brandon Fields and Ahyaro Phillips, was cited for misdemeanor petty larceny at Scheels sports store. Giles was fined $457. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2008-09 season by then-head coach Mark Fox.
Should he have stayed, Giles would have likely been in the running for the starting point guard position. Now, that position will likely go to a player who has yet to suit up in Nevada blue (high school recruits Deonte Burton or Jordan Finn, or junior college transfer Derrell Conner).
