My memory is pretty foggy on this, but I seem to vaugely remember an interview with June when he first took the SMU job where he stated that the first thing you needed to build a winning team is a good defense. Despite his reputation as an offense guy, his recruiting seems to bear out this philosophy so far.
This sounds like a fantastic pickup. Way to go coaching staff!

I believe it was just the opposite. He said he would get what he needed to out score the opposition and then worry about defense. That pleases me because it means he at least has a little confidence in our current offense.

That's what he said.mrydel wrote:I believe it was just the opposite. He said he would get what he needed to out score the opposition and then worry about defense. That pleases me because it means he at least has a little confidence in our current offense.
He also said he'd be able to attract good wr's, rb's and qb's immediately with his offense. Slightly more difficult to sign would be LB's, safeties and OL...last and most difficult to get because they're in greatest demand and few have what it takes to play the position really well would be cornerbacks and interior d linemen. I guess that means to expect the 2012 class to have stud cornerbacks and noseguards (Stallion would say Franchione would have gotten 3 & 4 star players at every position his first year but I can settle for JJ).

Looks like we may be ahead of schedule since we are recruiting so much on the D side. JJ must be comfortable with the O.Alaric wrote:That's what he said.mrydel wrote:I believe it was just the opposite.
